Jeffrey, Seejattan, Seebarran, Baksh, Rahaman among top GT Motorsports’ awardees

The top drivers of the GT Motorsport Georgetown Grand Prix were rewarded for their efforts when the organisation held its Awards ceremony on Friday night at GMRSC in Thomaslands.
These drivers have made great strides in the sport in only some 12 months of competition and gave Guyanese fans much to cheer about on the track, thereby making the sport an important event locally.
The top three drivers in each category were presented with plaques, while marshals and other persons who assisted in the success of GT Motorsport were also rewarded for their input.
Kristian Jeffrey was named champion driver of the Shifter Pro Cup after recording six wins amassing 189 points. Fellow Guyanese Elliott Vieira finished second with 138 points, while Canadian Darryl Timmers was third on 131 points.
Mikhail Persaud was named the top driver in the125 cc junior division with 272 points. Rayden Persaud with 239 points ended second, while John Phang was third on 205 points.
Matthew Phang was voted the best driver in the 125cc senior segment after scoring 148 points while Bridget Singh of Trinidad and Tobago took the runner up spot with 115 points, while Denzel Hopkinson placed third on 109 points.
Shan Seejattan marked 186 points to cop the top award in the Easy Cup Heavy; Haniff Mohamed and Raymond Seebarran finished second and third with 93 and 65 points respectively.
The top driver prize in the Easy Cup Light division went to Raymond Seebarran who rattled up 172 points ahead of Haniff Mohamed 155 and Ralph Persaud 147 points.
Raymond Baksh was crowned champion driver in the Easy Cup Rookie category after notching 273 points; Ralph Persaud was second on 184, while Dharmendra Dharmo was third on 154.
Jeremy Tenpow took the top podium spot in the Sunburst Kids Cup 60cc, while Nathan Rahaman placed second; Paige Mendonca placed third.
Vishok Persaud, who chaired the proceedings, congratulated the awardees and expressed gratitude to the sponsors.
He made special mention of Stanley Ming and Kevin Jeffrey who were instrumental in the erection of the facility and gave the assurance that this year will be bigger and better.
Kevin Jeffrey, Stanley Ming, Ray Rahaman, Rameez Mohamed, Sunil Persaud, Harold Hopkinson were among those that were commended for their role in the success of the sport.
President of organisation Rameez Mohamed lauded the winners and stated that drag race is the perfect start for new drivers. He added that the entity will show more dedication to the sport and special emphasis will be placed on safety.
