I had covered this long time ago on the religious forum. I'll will try and do a write up and post it there. You should remember on this day Hindus would converge on #63 beach with their coconuts as offerings and perform Ganga Maa puja and put lighted deeyas in purine leaves to float away. Watch the video to end and you may get the essence of this auspicious occasion.

The bathing is done wherever possible. Yugii22 beleives that it washes away ones sins and also that a dip in the Ganges makes one pure. I don't subscribe to that beleif. I would like Yugii22, the GNI Holy Man, to fill a quarter bottle with the nastiest puttuh-puttuh mud, cork it and dip into the Holy Ganges and then open the bottle and drink the contents.
