Mit,

I was mad when I heard the PPP denied this man his pension.  He was blamed for causing the party to lose power in 1964. I think Balram was much more in tune with the racial politics of Guyana and its future impact on the Non-Africans. He was not a politician consumed with east west politics and lost sight of reality.  Forbes impoverished Guyana with his socialism and Cheddie lost a golden opportunity to work with the west to build a new Guyana.

According to older folks that I know, many confirmed that BSR was racist and hated Afros and spoke openly about his feeling at meetings in Berbice.

BSR was upset that an Afro Guyanese PPP member got a better position than him in the PPP, this is a known fact.

BSR was a Neemakharam like Moses, he was allegedly on the CIA payroll to bring down the PPP.

This is all fact.

Prashad, I can understand why the PPP cared little or nothing for Balram Singh Rai's pension, though the gentleman is entitled to such.

But, Prash, what I could not understand was why the Jagdeo administration did not want to grant the late PPP Attorney General Doodnauth Singh his pension. Doodnauth had to take legal action to wrench his lawful pension from the PPP government. He, Doodnauth, rendered longer and more significant services to the PPP than Balram.

If Balram Singh Rai was a black man every person in the PPP party would be bowing down to him. Koolie love to kick and ill treat his fellow koolie. So Rai got kick to the bottom of the pit.

Rai was courted by the CIA to take away votes from the PPP.  This was documented in Professor Rabe's Book.  "US Intervention in British Guiana".

is all fact.

Seems like the PPP only rewards the psychophants who toe their line.

This probably explains why they are in the position they are in today. The PPP, by all indications, may not be able to Government Guyana again anytime in the near future, not with Jagdeo at the helm.

If Jranger and the anti -koolie gang who now rule over our East Indian brothers and sisters, East Indians suffering from an African false identity and many African Guyanese can accept Hamiltone Greene into their hearts and lift him on their shoulders as a hero of their people. Then we East Indian Guyanese can find a place in our hearts for Balram Singh Rai. At the end he is our brother whose ancestors came off of the indenture ship with our ancestors and slept in the former slave huts that our ancestors slept in.

1.  Most of Burnham's socialism was approved with glee from Cheddi, who was told by his communist bosses in Havana, and Moscow to cooperate.  When Burnham was slow to nationalize Bookers, having already nationalized Demba, Cheddi had a fit, and insisted that Bookers be nationalized.

2.  I know that you know better than to think that Cheddi's communism would have not resulted in the same mess that Burnham's socialism caused.

Balram Singh Rai took money from the CIA to form and Help Fund the Justice Party and itselection campaign. He is not an innocent.

Are U saying the PPP is justified not to have approved his pension?

That is a fact. It's also a fact that Cheddi Jagan took money from the Soviet KGB to help fund the PPP. Was Jagan an innocent?

It's a matter of historical record that little Guyana was a pawn of the USA and USSR principally during the Cold War. With apology to none, Jagan picked the Russians and Cubans as his allies. The Americans were adamant that Guyana must never become a "second Cuba". They enlisted Balram Singh Rai and achieved their aim.

So, is Balram Singh Rai not entitled to a parliamentary pension? Since 1964 dozens of PNC parliamentarians got their pension benefits without a whimper of protest from Freedom House. Goat bite Balram?

If Hamiltone Greene a multiple koolie serial and one of the founders of hardcore anti-koolie hate can be honoured many times over by hardcore anti-koolie racists. Then we East Indians can certainly find a place in our hearts for our brother Balram Singh Rai. I would like to see the Indian Arrival Committee honour Balram Singh Rai before he dies. It would be the highest honour of our people towards our own.
