Hundreds of millions of dollars were paid out to more than 50 contract workers of the Ministry of Communities under the previous APNU+AFC administration over the past five years with no record or evidence of their performance, newly appointed Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Nigel Dharamlall has said.

During his first press briefing, which was held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, at Liliendaal, Dharamlall said the discovery was made following a situational analysis that was undertaken by him and Deputy Minister Anand Persaud.

“We found that in the minister’s secretariat, in the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, there were 23 staff who were earning as much as, in total per month, $7.730 million dollars,” Dharamlall said.

We know a long time ago that there would be stealing by the APNU. The last time the PPP had access to money, they stole big time. And they are going steal this time too. Suh, why this chap going on wid. Perhaps, he has nothing else to do. I would think he be excited at his job doing all the wonderful things they promised.

So, he should not call out those who stole from the Government? He has the right to expose wrongdoings if he can prove it.

You already concluded that the PPP would steal again as if you can prove they did.

There is an indian ting to follow corrupted ideas.

Indians we trusted in Guyana became the biggest thieves. Even regarding cell phone credits.

Recently a barrel with supplies was stored on the floor of a 'trusted' member's house. Somehow the barrel  fell on the floor and broken open, with most items missing and no one in the house knew who took it, but items appeared in relatives' homes.  An item goes missing from a table with six Indians sitting around it, but no one saw where it went.

Why does the PPP like to focus on Indians who participated when Afros did more?  Same issues I had with the AFC coolies.

Focus on everyone equally.  Ahh coolies.

If afros did more than coolies they wouldn't have lost the respect of the electorate. They were not doing their jobs. They have to focus on people who did their jobs and promote them.

What is the situation in countries where  citizens don't  perceive or have evidence of governments stealing ? It was so blatant in some parts of Guyana, that citizens felt it was the norm, for them to do the same.

Leaders should set good examples, but Guyana had many failed leaders, who could not account for their wealth.
