Police in touch with US authorities for access to Marcus Brian Bisram – Crime Chief

 Murder of No. 70 carpenter.

The Guyana Police Force has contacted its counterparts in the US for access to US based-Guyanese, Marcus Brian Bisram who is wanted for questioning here in connection with the murder of Corentyne carpenter, Faiyaz Narinedatt.

This is according to Crime Chief, Wendell Blanhum who told Stabroek News yesterday that every effort is currently being made to have Bisram returned to Guyana so that he can be questioned as part of the murder investigation.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on Monday advised the police to charge four men with the murder of Narinedatt. One other suspect, who is said to be the bodyguard of Bisram and who was arrested on Monday in Berbice remains in custody.

The four men, Radesh Motie, Diadath Datt, Harripaul Parsram, and Niram Yakoby all appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Magistrate Ann McLennan and were charged jointly with the murder of Narinedatt.

The police had initially arrested seven persons for questioning last Tuesday, three of whom were released based on advice given by the DPP.

Narinedatt was found lying lifeless on the Number 70 Village public road, Corentyne on November 1 with marks of violence about his body. Investigators were initially treating the matter as a hit and run. However, relatives of Narinedatt pleaded with the police to further investigate the incident as they believed he was murdered, based on information provided to them by eyewitnesses.

A post-mortem examination revealed that he died from a fractured skull but had also sustained a fractured spine and other injuries.

During interrogation, two of the suspects provided detectives with written statements admitting their involvement in the crime. In addition, two detectives from Berbice were also detained for questioning, after they were accused of trying to cover up the matter.  They both denied the allegation and have been released.

Stabroek News was told that on the day before he was found dead, Narinedatt had attended a party at Number 70 Village, which was hosted by Bisram. There was an altercation after which an instruction was passed and Narinedatt was set upon and beaten to death. Bisram left the country shortly after.

It was Narinedatt’s family’s numerous calls for justice and their refusal to have ranks from ‘B’ Division investigate the matter which led to the intervention of the Major Crimes Unit from Georgetown.

This man is gay as hell. If he is involved in the murder, let him face the music. Forget his charity givings. This does not give him the right to kill and run free.
Being gay is not a crime. However, he should keep it to himself.

Hang his ass high!!  Looks like he is wearing makeup.  One look at him and you can tell he is gay.

This dude applies his makeup better than some of the model women I see on the infomercials.

Public Road, Corentyne on November 1, has reportedly received a number of death threats to stop the police investigation, and is now fearful for her life and that of her relatives.

The mother of Narinedatt’s two children said she has received several calls, with persons threatening that she would meet the same fate as her husband if she does not desist from pursuing the investigation into his death, which had been staged to appear as a hit-and-run accident. She added that other members of her family have been receiving similar threats, and they are all fearful for their lives.

She told this publication that the person behind the death threats had received a $2.5 million donation from the businessman who is the alleged mastermind in the murder of her husband. “Them ah threaten everybody, and now (everybody) frighten, because if them kill me husband, (everybody) frighten them kill them too,” Pitam said.

Pitam had always been adamant that her husband was murdered. She has since pledged that she would not give up until justice is served.

This newspaper understands that several other persons who were outspoken about Narinedatt’s murder have also received death threats.
Family friend Nafiza Ally said she received several phone calls after she pleaded on social media for justice for the young father.

“I got a call from a woman who identified herself. She asked if I got evidence to support what I put up on Facebook. She tell me I gon see she when she come lock me up, and If I continue she gon let the [name provided] send people to kill me,” Ally said.

Meanwhile, as investigations continue into the gruesome murder of the carpenter, two detectives of the Springlands Police Station have been questioned by the Major Crimes Unit. According to investigators, it is alleged that the two are closely associated with the mastermind, who is believed to have paid hefty sums to assist in covering up the act.

Meanwhile, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told Stabroek News that although the police were alerted that Bisram is not in Guyana, a murder charge will be filed today against him and his bodyguard who was arrested in Berbice on Monday.

As a result, the four men, Radesh Motie, 39; Diodath Datt, 18; Harri Paul Parsram, 49, and Niran Yacoob, 37, who had appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and were charged with the murder will have the individual charges withdrawn against them and a joint charge will be instituted.

Blanhum had informed this newspaper on Tuesday that all efforts were being made to have Bisram returned to Guyana and the police had already contacted its counterparts in the US for access to him.

In a release issued yesterday afternoon, the police said that Bisram whose last known addresses were given as Lot 115 Section ‘A’ Number 70 Village Corentyne, Berbice and the United States of America is wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of Narinedatt which occurred on November 01, 2016, at Number 70 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

The police had initially detained seven persons for questioning last week, three of whom were released based on advice given by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Narinedatt was found lying lifeless on the Number 70 Village public road, Corentyne on November 1 with marks of violence about his body. Investigators were initially treating the matter as a hit and run death. However, relatives of Narinedatt pleaded with the police to further investigate the incident as they believed he was murdered, based on information provided to them by eyewitnesses.

On the eve of his death, Narinedatt had attended a party in Number 70 Village, which was hosted by Bisram, an overseas-based businessman, who allegedly made sexual advances towards him. Narinedatt reportedly rejected him and it is alleged that the businessman subsequently ordered his associates to kill the carpenter.

It is believed that the suspects, who were armed with several objects, dealt Narinedatt lashes about his body until he fell unconscious. His body was then placed in the trunk of a car, driven to the Number 70 Village road and dumped.

It was Narinedatt’s family’s numerous calls for justice and their refusal to have ranks from ‘B’ Division investigate the matter which led to the intervention of the Major Crimes Unit from Georgetown.

Additionally, two women, Sharmila Inderjali, 45, who is Bisram’s mother, and Maryanna Lionel, 25, a bank teller, were jointly charged with corruptly offering $4 million to police officer Kamal Pitama on November 19, at Eve Leary, to forego charges against the quartet in custody for the murder and Bisram. They denied the allegation and were also remanded to prison.

Anyone with information that may lead to Bisram’s arrest is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 333-2191, 333-2151-3, 225-2227, 225-0575, 911 or the nearest police station.

All information will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Marcus Bisram, bodyguard named in joint charge for murdering carpenter.

Novembere 25,2016

Source

Wanted businessman Marcus Brian Bisram and his bodyguard were yesterday both formally named as co-accused in the murder of Number 70 Village carpenter Faiyaz Narinedatt.

After the amended murder charge was read to bodyguard Orlando Dickie as well as the four men who were previously charged on Tuesday, police made an application for an arrest warrant for Bisram, who is believed to be in the United States.

Bisram, it was alleged, procured and commanded Dickie, Radesh Motie, Diodath Datt, Harri Paul Parsram, and Niran Yacoob to murder Narinedatt between October 31 and November 1, 2016, at Number 70 Village, Berbice.

Neither defendant was allowed to enter a plea to the allegation levelled against them.

The new charge was instituted against the defendants to include Bisram based on the advice of the Chambers of the Director of Public Prose-cutions (DPP).

The day prior to being found dead, Narinedatt had attended a party in Number 70 Village, which was hosted by Bisram, an overseas-based businessman. It has been alleged that Bisram made sexual advances towards Narinedatt and after being rejected it is alleged that the businessman subsequently ordered his associates to kill the carpenter.

Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers requested an arrest warrant for Bisram and stated that the police are currently seeking assistance from officers in the United States through Interpol.

Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan remanded the defendants and adjourned the matter to December 8, when it will be heard at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court.

The mother of Bisram, Sharmila Inderjali, and another woman, Maryanna Lionel, were also jointly charged on Tuesday with corruptly offering $4 million to police officer Kamal Pitama on November 19, at Eve Leary, to forego charges against Motie, Datt, Parsram and Yacoob, who were in custody for the murder, and Bisram.

Philanthropy is a grand thing provided everything is above board and the philanthropist has integrity. Those Hindu temples and individual recipients of Marcus' generosity probably did not question the source of his funds and/or his character. Naturally, they now find it difficult to accept even the idea that Marcus may be culpable in that carpenter's death. As Guyana's national poet Martin Carter had put it: "the mouth is muzzled by the hand that feeds it." While we watch unfolding developments and await the court's decision, we should reflect on the question of accepting money and other gifts from extravagant donors like Marcus.

From what I understand, he is accused of taking part in a murder and not in some funny business bring cash to the beneficiaries, so what's the point of you saying them not questioning the source or his integrity!

My understanding, most of these donations happened prior to all this stuff!
