Well the same fate will now await sugar workers as costs have to be reduced to increase the probability that the entire industry doesn't face total collapse.

Guyana couldn't afford to subsidize Guymine indefinitely and it cannot afford to subsidize Guysuco indefinitely.  Now go and tell sugar workers to take computer classes and found something else to so. That is what the PPP told people in Linden and Kwakwani.

I am not here to defend Jagdeo's actions 6 years ago, the PNC in power now, they are on the hot seat. Stop making excuses for them. They said they would save sugar and they failed. Jagdeo never said he would save bauxite but the industry still survives today.
