Flood St. Kitts[www.inewsguyana.com] In a gesture of solidarity with its sister nations of the Caribbean Community, the Government of Guyana will contribute US$100,000 to the Government of St Lucia, US$100,000 to the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines and US$75,000 to the Government of Dominica to assist in their recovery efforts in the wake of the recent heavy rains which resulted in the loss of lives and critical damage to property and infrastructure.

On Monday, the Government announced its intention to launch a national fundraising appeal in collaboration with the Private Sector to assist in the recovery efforts of the affected countries.

Recently, President of Guyana Donald Ramotar expressed his intention to provide assistance to those flooded out countries.

“The Government of Guyana will continue to monitor the situation reports from the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency with a view to supporting the recovery efforts of the affected Member States of the Eastern Caribbean,” a press statement from the Foreign Affairs Ministry had stated.

It was noted that President Donald Ramotar in a telephone call on December 26 extended his sympathies to Prime Minister of St. Lucia, Dr. Kenny D Anthony, on the loss of lives and damage to property and infrastructure caused by the severe rains and heavy winds which swept over the Eastern Caribbean.

It would be really something if Guyana gave US$275,000 to those countries because according to the Bookman's IMF information.  Every one of those countries are way more wealthier than Guyana.

Listen you.  This has nothing to do with the PPP party or PNC party or AFC.  Do you in your wildest dreams think a place like Dominica is richer than Guyana.  Have you ever been there?  Well I have and there is nothing there except plenty bush.  But according to the IMF Dominica is richer than Guyana.  To believe that is to also believe Santa is real.

It seems the above posters are not in-tune with current affairs, when they do, they'll see for themselves that Guyana indeed donated US$100,000 to the Government of St Lucia, US$100,000 to the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines and US$75,000 to the Government of Dominica to assist in their recovery efforts in the wake of the recent heavy rains which resulted in the loss of lives and critical damage to property and infrastructure.

Instead of jumping on the opposition's false propaganda bandwagon, they should spend more time being up to date with current affairs.

There exist no such evidence as you claim. The only money transfer has been to privately held accounts outside of Guyana. It is clear that this whole scam has been dreamt up to bypass the recent crackdown on illegal money transfers by thieving Guyanese politicians and drug dealers.

Guyana donates cash to flood-stricken Caribbean islands

Guyana donates cash to flood-stricken Caribbean islands

Guyana on Tuesday announced that it would be donating US$275,000 to three Eastern Caribbean islands that recently suffered deaths and damage due to bad weather.

The Foreign Ministry said the cash would be used to “assist in their recovery efforts in
the wake of the recent heavy rains which resulted in the loss of lives and critical damage to property and infrastructure.”

Calling the funds a “gesture of solidarity” with sister Caribbean Community (Caricom) nations, the Guyana government said  US$100,000 each would be given to St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and US$75,000 to Dominica.

Contribution of the funds to the governments of the three Caribbean  countries came one day after the Foreign Ministry announced that it would be teaming up with the Guyanese private sector in mobilizing assistance.

“The Government of Guyana will be launching a national fundraising appeal in collaboration with the Private Sector to assist in the recovery efforts of the countries of the Eastern Caribbean that were affected by the torrential rains and high winds which caused deaths and severe damage to property and infrastructure over the period December 23 to 25,” stated the Foreign Ministry.

Trinidad and Tobago has already provided relief supplies including bottled water, hygiene kits, food, cleaning equipment, water purification tablets to St. Lucia through the Regional Response Mechanism and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CEDMA) system.

Eighteen persons have died in the three Caribbean states where rivers have overflowed, bridges collapsed and power had gone out in several areas.

Kakahole, you lie so much; I am inclined to believe you would lie on your own mother. Show the acknowledgements from the recipients.

Conscience, you are a political prostitute and an incorrigible liar.

Lack of Conscience this is what Nehru posted:

IN response to President Donald Ramotar’s pledge of support made to sister CARICOM states St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Lucia, Cabinet has approved the transfer of some US$175,000 to the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), which recently completed and publicised a needs analysis addressing the situation of the two Eastern Caribbean countries that were hard hit by torrential rains and high winds which caused deaths and severe damage to property and infrastructure over the period December 23/25.
