Agricola bandits caught after minibus robbery

May 26, 2015 | By | Filed Under News

Quick response by the police resulted in the arrest of two men in Agricola, minutes after they reportedly robbed a minibus load of passengers.
The men struck about 13:30 hours yesterday then tried to seek refuge in the East Bank Demerara community which is sometimes referred to as a haven for small time criminals.
Reports reaching this newspaper stated that the two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, joined the minibus as passengers. When the vehicle reached Eccles they requested that the driver stop to let them off.
Immediately after exiting the bus, the bandit with the gun held up the other passengers and his accomplice took away jewellery and cash and escaped.
However, their escape was short-lived. The police responded quickly to the report and swooped down on the nearby village of Agricola, where they apprehended the men and recovered a stolen gold chain.

Now with a better Govt in place, I hope this is not a passing fad and hopefully quite genuine.

New brooms sweep clean; the old ones find the dirt.

It's not amazing. The previous PPP regime prevented the police from doing their job properly, especially in places like Agricola, so that the blacks could be blamed for the spiralling crime wave. I remember a case where the police had the bandits surrounded, but one bandit made a call to a minister and the police were ordered to let the bandits go.

Dem old brooms never found dirt...they made it.

Old brooms lose their bristles, go bald, damage/scratch all that they touch...the new one has to then do the trick.

I take it you are speaking from personal experience.

Don't worry - Solja Bai will pardon them if they get convicted. According to Solja Bai this is what he deems a petty crime.
