Yuh lil confused Cribby. It wasn’t Jagdeo telling anyone to shut up. It was Harmon telling Jagdeo to shut up. I glad you agree with me that Harmon shouldn’t tell Jagdeo to shut up.

Article 106 (6) of the Constitution states: “The Cabinet including the President shall resign if the Government is defeated by the vote of a majority of all the elected members of the National Assembly on a vote of confidence.”

Article 106(7). Notwithstanding its defeat, the Government shall remain in office and shall hold an election within three months, or such longer period as the National Assembly shall by resolution supported by not less than two-thirds of the votes of all the elected members of the National Assembly determine, and shall resign after the President takes the oath of office following the election.”

Big enough for them to see,

wondering if they understand what the article meant.

Anyway, please indicate what pressure it took for Ramotar to hold elections in 2015. May thanks.

Mummy England scolded Ramotar telling him to stop the nonsense of proroguing parliament and allow the NC vote to be held.

Mummy went on to say that all of her other kids are now grown up and mature, even the little one St Kitts Nevis, the smallest of the bunch and the last to be independent.  Even the other little one, Dominica, destroyed by hurricanes two years in a row, is less of a pest.

Its this big kid Guyana, stronger and bigger than all of the others, having ample natural resources and a relatively small population, so not forced to engage in scams like selling passports in order to survive. This loser child is the one who always comes screaming, and begging. Such a pest.

So if all of the ministries shut down how will the country function?

It obviously means that parliament is suspended until after the elections and cabinet remains only to oversee the day to day functioning of the nation, and not to introduce new initiatives.

Now I know you wish that Granger would leave office so that Jagdeo will assume presidential roles, but that ain't happening.

Currently they are contesting the validity of the vote. When they lose, as they cannot prove this, then they will move on.

In the interim it is THEY who are damaging themselves, as they will truly look quite stupid, even to their die hard supporters as they aren't preparing for elections.

But deal with your PPP which SHUT DOWN parliament to prevent an NC vote. The Coalition did NOT shut down parliament.

Both parts of the article are taken together 106 (6) then 106 (7), you don't pick and choose part of article 106 . Constitutions are written like that, it's like a buffer to avoid a severe impact.

Plain and simple, Jagdeo needs proper advice.

The PPP shutting down the government meant that they effectively rendered their government over even before a vote. The Coalition government had a vote against them and still refuse to accept that vote. The PPP looking like de shinyer coin deh bai.

Thy should resign!

they Constitution says "they" resign after elections when the new Gov't is sworn in

what Stalin-era Freedom House tract are you reading from?

The Guyana constitution states .. succinctly ...

1. Approval of no confidence vote, government MUST resign.

2. Notwithstanding point 1, the president and ministers remain in office specifically to effect the elections within three months.

3. After the designated election, NEW government is appointed and the previous care-taker president and officers resigning.

4. Regarding point 2, the period of three months can be extended ONLY with the approval of, at least, two-thirds of the elected MPs.

What Jagdeo wants to do is to create a vacuum which allows him to assume presidential roles.  The man never understood or accepted the fact that in 2011 and in 2015 the MAJORITY of Guyanese voted against the PPP.

It doesn't say when the government should resign. It's obvious that if the government resigns months ahead of any election then there will be no government in charge. We would then have lawlessness, which is what Jagdeo seems to want.

Jagdeo's tactics are so obvious. Remove the executive arm from office immediately. See the governance of the country cease, and then walk in has a hero to "rescue" Guyana.   So the PPP will be in de facto office, only using the elections to confirm this.

Granger does have one crucial card that he could play, and that is to suspend the constitution.

And what would be his justification of doing so, as that would be even worse than when Ramotar prorogued parliament.
