Paradise Invaders maintain lead with another win; Young Strikers notch first

Paradise Invaders maintained their unbeaten record with their fourth win whilst Young Strikers recorded their first win in four matches when competition in the GFF/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Under-17 Intra Association League continued in the Berbice Football Association.
Playing in the main attraction at Burnham Park in New Amsterdam on Sunday last, Young Strikers blanked Mahaicony Thunder Hawks 2-0 on account of first half goals from Oshea Leitch in the 16th minute and Shane Campbell in the 25th.
Mahaicony came out firing on all cylinders in the second half and were rewarded with two penalties but miffed both chances, one going well over the crossbar with the other saved by the Young Strikers goalkeeper.
The opening match of the double header produced a handsome 5-1 win for Paradise Invaders thanks to a hat-trick off the boot of Ntini August who rocked the nets in the in the 32nd, 36th and 53rd minute.
Patrick Thomas had earlier opened proceedings in the 9th minute, while Jason Archer also got in on the goal scoring action with one of his own in the 55th minute. Corriverton Links’ consolation goal came was netted by Alex Partab in the 21st minute.
Meanwhile, one match will be played today and tomorrow at Burnham Park. Today’s encounter will see New Amsterdam United playing Hopetown from 15:30hrs, while tomorrow’s match-up pits Monedderlust against Cougars from the same time. Both are re-scheduled matches.
