Gaumatie Singh endorses PPP/C

Former executive member of the Alliance For Change Gaumatie Singh has endorsed the ruling People’s Progressive Party/ Civic over the weekend telling a Port Mourant rally that she has found β€œ honesty and integrity in Donald Ramotar” when compared to the AFC current leadership team. Singh, speaking passionately at the meeting, stated that she found out after the 2006 elections the AFC leadership which she had campaigned with were deceitful, disrespectful, and dishonest. β€œ They are deceitful, dishonest... the leadership which includes Khemraj Ramjattan and Raphael Trotman. They want to be president and prime minister and they can’t even lead their own party. How can they lead this country?” Singh ask to loud cheers. She urged all present to vote for the re- election of the People’s Progressive Party/ Civic, stating that soon after her tragedy and the disrespect shown by her so- called colleagues in the AFC, she had lots of time to study the transformation that has taken place under the ruling party. β€œ You know what they did to me... I was just one woman who wanted to serve my country... I was attacked and burnt with corrosive acid months after I spoke out against the AFC and their dishonesty,” Singh reported. She said when work is still to be done by individuals, not even attacks on their lives will stop them from fulfilling their purpose in life. Singh noted that the struggle for development, freedom, women's rights and equality, as well as the continuation of Dr Cheddi Jagan’s legacy must continue. Hence, she argued that she has found a friend in the PPP/ C presidential candidate who has stood by her side through thick and thin. She said Ramotar outclassed Ramjattan and was more worthy than any other person to lead Guyana for ward as its next president. β€œ He is a competent and intelligent politician and Guyana needs men and women like this to lead it into greener pastures,” Singh said. Speaking about her non- selection as an MP for the AFC following the 2006 elections, Singh said the party had apologised to her, and maintained that she was promised a seat. She had complained about the AFC not selecting her as one of its MPs and subsequently quit the party. β€œ They will never win these elections and they will never get more than two to three seats... It’s not about race and they try to tell people that the PPP/ C is only for Indian people, but I differ... the PPP/ C is for all people of this country,” Singh argued. She endorsed the policies and plans of the ruling party as outlined in its 2011 elections manifesto, telling the rally that they must place their x at the logo of the PPP/ C. β€œ My heart, my soul, and all of my energies even down to my last breath will be spent with the PPP/ C,” she said in an emotional appeal.

Singh explained that she is proud that the party and its government have significantly worked towards the development of Regions Five and Six improving tremendously the hardship- plagued transportation sector, which has long been a bone of contention.

β€œ You don’t have to stand up at the stelling anymore in long lines,” she not ed, because β€œ our government has built a bridge linking the two regions” and connecting Guyana to its neighbours. Singh added that she was not bitter and did not make the choice to join and endorse the PPP/ C easily.

AFC condemns use of threats in this campaign period.

The Alliance For Change notes with grave concern that its former executive member Mrs. Gomattie Singh has alleged that she been receiving threatening phone calls upon her endorsement of the PPP’s campaign.
The AFC wishes to categorically condemn the use of any threatening conduct against Mrs. Singh, or any other candidate of any political party involved in the important work of winning support for their respective parties. Our own actvists and candidates face daily threats and harrassment from persons purporting to be acting on behalf of the PPP/C.
The AFC wishes to make it clear that Mrs. Gomattie Singh had provided dedicated service to the party and thus the membership and leadership of the AFC bears no ill will towards her. In fact, Ms. Singh, following the dastardly attack suffered severl years ago, received full support from the Presidential Candidate, Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan, and others.
The AFC however respects her democratic right to associate with the political party of her choice. We cannot help but wonder whether Ms. Singh is being unwittingly used as a pawn by her PPP/C comrades to suggest that the AFC would want to physically harm her in some way. Our deep respect and appreciation for her would not allow for such a thing.
The AFC further submits that when one contemplates the small collection of charlatans recently joining the PPP’s platform, Mrs. Singh will definitely stand out as an asset, and we wish her well.

Yall leff the poor woman alone nuh man. Someone did a terrible thing to her right after she crossed over
to the PPP.
She never said it was by any person of an opposition party nor otherwise.

We just have to wait and let the splendid Guyanese enforcement officers who could possibly do with some serious training and proper tools, to deal with it.

She's an ungrateful woman. She was being helped by Ramjattan for the longest time and never made any accusations against the AFC. Now suddenly she turns around and stabs him in the back with her wicked lies.

What lies? The woman said was what always known that Trotman refused to adhere to the AFC's leadership rotation principle initially and Ramjattan called her complaining.
Ramjattan and his backers commenced a nasty and racists campaign against Trotman calling him a snake etc. I still have the emails sent by Dr Somar Andre.

So because Ramjattan assisted her during her time of need she shouldn't speak the truth?
Maybe it was his conscience that caused him to assist her knowing what they did to the poor woman

So you're saying that this woman wasn't doused with acid after speaking out against the AFC which she helped form? Are you saying that this is a conspiracy story made up by the PPP to trick people into voting for them? Big Grin
