Bossa Nova is cool.

You are in the heart of this kind of music. Miami is the heart of bossa, reggaeton, salsa etc.  That bossa song Nora Jones...Ravi Shankar's daughter

Note it is our music. At the heart of it is West Indian music.

The band I play with some times plays mainly ethnic clubs ....spanish and brazilian, so we play every thing from bossa to ranchero, norteno, cumbia reggaeton, salsa. I like this music. I came to it late but I have afro cuban and mexican musicians as well as west Indian and they teach me a lot. Took lots of classes in flamenco so it was easy to get the afro cuban stuff especially. Mexican music is rich and diverse and another life time to learn.

Indeed Miami is truly a melting pot. The different mixing of music, foods and culture does create a beautiful tapestry. Latin music itself comes in so many forms as does music from the English speaking Caribbean not to leave out the French Caribbeans. On any given day we can be privileged to lot of good entertainment in Miami. I particularly like Bossa Nova because it appeals to lovers.

The Sounds of Silence by Pentatonic

One word...AWESOME!

The genius of the Jewish race. Like Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon reached back into the world of the Divine to pen this song.

The Sound of Silence refers to the peaceful time of mankind when the Yeshua returns and returns a world of peace.

Listen to the line on the Prophets.

I have been to one and saw what transpired there. Had to get away from the room...too much for me.

Like what you wimp, hehe? All you might get is folk laughing at every little thing, perhaps a bit of coughing, nuff jokes, peace an luv. So what you got against them things?

You alone have that view of this song. It is a dystopian view of the fall of  humanity brought on by voices of authoritarianism and insidious modernism eating away at the truth through distraction.

This is so complete that  the wisdom of the ages is overwhelmed and  submerged from view of the senses  with only remnants of the truth remaining. And these we see as the graffiti on walls where free minds that remains express their lamentations of our loss.

The prophets are the icons of distractions, false leaders, fast life etc things  that we embrace serves to hides reality from the senses,  steal  minds  and rob us of the truth.

The voices are powerful  and beautiful  but the style  ruins the message of the song for me. Is it slowed down  Will check to see if it is my ear that is failing me

I like Pentonix covers . But I prefer this song sung in its original style like this where it is an inter play of a guitar and singer alone.  The message remains intact when it is not messed with. This is one song that is perfect the way it is.

Dude, I have said before, I never smoked a cigarette in my life, why should I try something that was illegal and repulsive.

I hear the Psalms and Isaiah in those lyrics.

Truth, written in the common places like subway walls and tennement- acknowledged from a distant time past easily available for all to read.

Paul Simon, 21 years old must have been heavily into the Torah, he had to, being Jewish and at that age. He said he had inspiration reading so college material. I doubt that part of it, had I not listened to Leonard Cohen.

I do not know how old he was when he wrote it but I know he is not religious but took a dim view of it.  Leonard Choen is similarly a free spirit. Hallelujah is not about god even if we have allusions of David peeping at Bathsheba.

There are a few different versions in varying styles. I like this one too.
