Felix Austin Police College holds Volleyball Extravaganza and fun day

Skeldon Community Center Slammers created a major upset when they defeated Port Mourant Training Center 1, (PMTC1) 2-1 in the final that went down to the wire of the Felix Austin B Division Volleyball extravaganza and fun day.

In a very close encounter the SCCS held their nerves to edge home against their more famed counterparts in a cliff hanger. The day’s activity was held at the FAPTC β€œB” division location at Adventure Corentyne, Berbice.
In a game that was hotly contested from the start, the SCCS bounced back after losing the first game 25-21. To take the next two games at 25-23 and 15-12 in fading light to announce themselves on the big stage.
The other teams that took part were Black Bush Polder and the Felix Austin Training Center Recruits.
Two teams participated among the females with Port Mourant coming back from a game down to defeat Falcons 2-1. The scores were Port Mourant winning 16-25, 25-16 and 15-8.
There were three junior teams that participated with GTC PM1 steamrolling Jets 15-5 and 15-8. The other team that participated was GTCPM 2.
At the end of the day’s activity trophies and other incentives were distributed to the winners and outstanding individual players.
The first and second places (SCCS and PMTC1) in the senior male categories received trophies. First place finisher in the female category received a trophy, while medals were presented to the runner up. The top junior team also received a trophy.
The outstanding individual players who were rewarded were – Ray Moore MVP senior male, Candacy Mentore MVP female, Female Best setter was Krystal Paddy, Junior male best setter award went to Hellon Singh.
Among those who were in attendance and assisted with the presentation of trophies and incentives were  BVA president Levi Nedd, B Division Commander Assistant Commissioner Ian Amsterdam, Deputy Commander Senior Superintendent Errol Watts, OC No3 Division (Corentyne) Superintendent Kurleigh Simon, Divisional Detective Officer Deputy Superintendent Gary McAllister, Community Relations Officer Assistant Superintendent Keith Williams, Commandant of the Training School Assistant Superintendent Antonio Fredericks, Assistant Superintendent Elton Davidson and Assistant Superintendent Yonette Stephen among others.
The day’s activity was coordinated by Nedd and Fredericks.
The next tournament will be held on Sunday May 28th at the Skeldon Community Centre in keeping with the Government’s Social Cohesion initiative.
