THIS WAS PULLED FROM ANOTHER THREAD:

READ THIS:

"You can never change people, a fool will always be a fool, a jerk will always be a jerk, a jackass will always be a jackass. People are who they are. Accept that."

* Lots of proud jackasses on GNI---all men---the way you deal with these nitwits is you put them on ignore.

Senor Rev, I say this with all respect (I usually strive for this value on GNI), your statement above adds to the emotional "incorrectness" on Social. Let's all decide to be circumspect with what we say.

Miraver:

* You have a lot to learn. Hope you are open-minded.

* Listen! If I were to refer to a fellow poster directly as a jackass, that would be a personal attack. And I am totally against personal or ad hominem attacks.

* But there is absolutely nothing wrong with making a general statement like this:

Lots of proud jackasses on GNI---all men---the way you deal with these nitwits is you put them on ignore.

* Now! While that statement is 100% truthful---it does directly impugn the character of anyone. It's not a personal slanderous attack.

* Look Mira---careful with this "emotional incorrectness" stuff you are tossing around.

* You are a nice and pleasant lady and the Rev is respectful to all the ladies on GNI---but if you take issue with a general statement I make---you'll be corrected.

* Once again, there is a huge, colossal difference between calling some directly a jackass and making a general statement that there are lots of proud jackasses who post on GNI.

* You'll get an "A" rather than a "B+" if you comprehend the difference.

Rev, I'm smiling here This is one long response! I suppose you really want me to grasp the lesson I'm receptive to your tone Why did you you edit the exclamation marks? Oh, you're also missing a "not" in one of your sentences and that changes the meaning

I'm looking and listening, for in the school of life, I am a life-long learner. However, in the school of life, there is no expectation for a letter grade

Oh, I do know that I have a lot to learn. It's good that you validated that for me. About having an open mind, as I get older, I've realized the value of having an open mind.

* Glad you're smiling.

Senor Rev, one of the first things we notice about someone is his/her smile. Won't you agree? I punctuated my earlier post with those smiley emoticons because written communication lacks the body language and I wanted my response to be "light". I am sure you know that over 70% of what we communicate is done via our body language.

Anyway, I want to close off my time on GNI today with this quote that I refer to often.

Don't Make Assumptions. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

For those who are reading, have a PPP kind of week...pleasant, peaceful, and productive. Remember to share your smile for a smile costs nothing, but gives much

A very good night to all!
