Man jailed for damaging Minister Harmon’s house

A man, who admitted to damaging Minister of State, Joseph Harmon’s house, was Wednesday sentenced to six months imprisonment.

Thirty year old Samuel Greene of Guyhoc Park admitted to committing the offence at Harmon’s property.

The unrepresented man stood before Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ court where the charge read that on September 15 at Guyhoc Park, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged a section of the home.

The facts stated that on the day in question the Harmon saw the defendant with a metal bar lashing a section the home causing damages totaling GYD$995,000 dollars.

Dem boys showing off their powers by jailing people for minor offences.

BRB, I don't know about the judge's decision or if the six-month imprisonment is fair, but what I do know, is if a person is damaging your property to any extent, he should face the law. Let's not get misguided by politics.

I hope DemWaves will update us with the motive for the man's action.

Doesn't matter, as you said he shouldnt be damaging someone's home. I heard of someone who ripped up a guy's fence because he refused to pay for the work, don't know the outcome of that.

Looks like Harmon got wan expensive house, close to US$5000 in damages.

I am surprised that you guys did not blame Jagdeo or the PPP for Samuel Greene destroying Harmon's house. How long before we get this side of the story? Just like Crum Ewing.

Your thought is exactly why Afro and Indo will be at each other throat constantly. BRB is no different than you. Even when the facts are not there, the political scorn comes naturally.

Is this something new? Did the PNC not blame the PPP for Crum Ewing's death? Doesn't the PNC blame all their ineptitude on Jagdeo and the PPP? If you want to defend the PNC, no one is stopping you.

SK...I think Prince is making the point that the discussion on this topic seemed quite normal until you and and BRB brought up politics....is not like anyone was blaming PPP

Do you want someone to blame PPP?

Don't worry about people's house.  I'm sure you have a nice one too.

You didn't get it,

Harmon is a public figure,

the damages claimed are exorbitant, that's my view.

They blamed the PPP before. Isn't this a political forum? Have we not seen less trivial stuff (even religious topics) morphed into a political drag out argument?

Bai, you don't know the man's house. He could have had lots of electrical security apparatuses and physical barriers. What if these are damaged? replacement plus labor costs(depending on the contractor) could add up there. Don't forget maybe and additional 20% to compensate for overruns etc.
