US-ambassador-1

….complain about “executive lawlessness, political persecution” under the administration during meeting with US Ambassador

Opposition Leader, Joseph Harmon and Leader of the Alliance for Change (AFC), Khemraj Ramjattan, met on Wednesday with US Ambassador, Sarah- Ann Lynch to present the message that the PPP/C Government should not be allowed to “ostracize a large section of the Guyanese population” with US support.

The meeting took place at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition and was also attended by Deputy Chief of Missions, Mark Cullinane. The main topics discussed were matters relating to governance, parliamentary democracy and national security.

Reports received by the Village Voice News are that several Members of Parliament (MPs) and other high-ranking party officials were against the meeting.

This is even as the Opposition has been very critical of Lynch in the past based on her involvement in the March 2020 General and Regional Elections. During the period, Lynch had communicated that top Opposition officials and their families would receive US visa sanctions for “undermining democracy.”

Despite these past tensions, the meeting between Lynch, Cullinane and the Opposition leaders was cordial. Harmon once again congratulated the Biden administration and acknowledged Ambassador Lynch as a representative of that Administration.

They also discussed the alleged discriminatory practices of the PPP/C regime, the arbitrary firing of public servants, alleged discriminatory practices in the distribution of the COVID-19 cash grants, alleged politically motivated charges and arbitrary arrests of persons perceived to be coalition supporters and other issues.

A release from the Opposition party stated: “The Leader of the Opposition shared the Coalition’s views and observations on these issues, and how they broadly affect the Guyanese people, and specifically the impact and effect on supporters of the APNU+AFC…it was reiterated that a spirit of consensus and collaboration is necessary and this means putting the good of the country first is paramount. There should be an effort to engage in meaningful dialogue to ensure that the PPP regime does not govern in a manner ostracizing a large section of the population with the support of the US.”

Harmon also put forward that the Opposition, like the Government, should be informed about any major changes on US Policy decisions on Guyana. He requested that Opposition views are communicated to Washington on a regular basis.

At the meeting, a copy of the summary report on the PPP regime’s “executive lawlessness, political persecution and ethnicization for the period August 2 to December 25, 2020” was presented to the Ambassador and Deputy Chief of Missions.

The APNU/AFC continues to obstruct the Government in performing its development of the Infrastructure. Why didn't discuss that with the ambassador? The ambassador is quite aware of what the Coalition did before the election.

PPP playing with fire. They bringing back them crook China Chinaman investment in America back yard.

Guyana has a free market enterprise System just like America, Canada, and Great Britain. Guyana will accept investments from any country in the world and that is not playing with fire. If you say that someone is playing with fire, you mean that they are doing something dangerous that may result in great harm for them and cause many problems. That is not so with The Free market system.

Every sensible person knows giving away resources and buddying up with China is considered playing with fire which is dangerous.

Harmon, Ramjattan beg US Ambassador to be news source for Opposition

Apr 08, 2021 News, source - Kaieteur News Online - https://www.kaieteurnewsonline...urce-for-opposition/

Kaieteur News – Guyana’s political opposition—the coalition A Partnership for National Unity+Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC)—believes that the local media has been unhelpful in getting its message across and as such, has requested that US Ambassador, Sarah-Ann Lynch, ferries its message to Washington, on a regular basis.

Opposition Leader, Joseph Harmon, made the request on Tuesday last during a meeting with the Ambassador and Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy, Mark Cullinane.

The meeting was held at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition and saw participation from AFC Leader, Khemraj Ramjattan, according to a public missive released by the Opposition on Wednesday.

The Opposition Leader requested that the Opposition views be communicated to Washington on a regular basis, having regard to the fact “that a large section of the local media landscape is unhelpful to the Opposition.”

In fact, Harmon also requested of Ambassador Lynch that the Opposition be informed of any major changes on US Policy decisions on Guyana.

According to the APNU+AFC public statement on Wednesday, the meeting focused primarily on a number of issues, particularly on matters relating to governance, parliamentary democracy and national security.

“The Leader of the Opposition shared the coalition’s views and observations on these issues, and how they broadly affect the Guyanese people and, specifically, the impact and effect on supporters of the APNU+AFC.”

According to the coalition, Harmon also used the opportunity to highlight what it calls the discriminatory practices of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic, since taking office and pointed to “the arbitrary firing of public servants, the distribution of COVID-19 cash grants, politically motivated charges and the arbitrary arrests of persons perceived to be Coalition supporters, among other issues.”

It was reiterated too, “that a spirit of consensus and collaboration is necessary and this requires putting the good of the country first as being paramount.”

Additionally, the Opposition said there ought to be an effort to engage in meaningful dialogue, with the support of the US, “to ensure that the PPP regime does not govern in a manner marginalising a large section of the population.”

The party said too that a copy of the summary report on the “PPP regime’s executive lawlessness, political persecution and ethnicisation of Guyana for the period August 2 to December 25, 2020, was shared with the US Ambassador and Deputy Chief of Mission.”

It has since committed to providing an updated report for the current period to be shared “within a short space of time.”

It happens that it is the US that is using Guyana and not the opposite.

After the PNC rigged elections in Guyana for 28 years, they complained to the US about rigging after they lost the government in 1992.  GNI poster formed an organization to protect Democracy in Guyana and used the State Department to support him. In 2021, the APNU/AFC again complained to the US because they didn't win.  They cited rigging a word very famous with the PNC.

The US is stupid to think that the Coalition is honest and that they would side with them.

The US aware of Burnham tenure and looked the other side ,information are in the open .Hoyte came in to power in 1985 ,again the US looked the other side ,during his tenure the campaign started and with the help of the Carter Center ,free and fair elections came in 1992 ,was it fair ? there were claims of voters showed up and their names wasn't on the voters list.

From then every elections was tainted ,read the elections reports. The PNC aren't the only party that carried out skulduggery ,the PPP is equally guilty ,1997 elections was declared null and void three years after , AFC was robbed a seat in 2006, 2011 elections Gocool Budhoo tried to manipulate the allocations of seats, it was detected by Vincent Alexander .2015 elections the PPP claimed it was rigged . 2020 elections the battle continues.

Mr.Rama we live in a technological world ,information can be gathered easily, wake up from the slumber, people aren't fooled easily trying to paint one side as evil.
