Devanand Persaud is ‘B’ Class Draughts Champion

Tuschen player Devanand Persaud took a comfortable win from his opponents over the weekend in the Annual National Draughts Championship held in the Compound of the National Gymnasium.
Devanand amassed nine points over his closest rival Esan Anderson with six points. Shawn Weekes with five points earned the third place, while Lindon Heywood clinched the fourth spot.
The first and second place winners were awarded with trophies donated by P&P Insurance Brokers, while Rubis Bel Air and Colours Boutique sponsored the third and fourth place trophies.
The winners were also given small gifts from the Guyana Draughts Association. These players also earn a spot to contest in the Senior category this weekend.
The games continue this Sunday with the ‘A’ class competition at the Rocket Center Conference Room, Wolford Avenue.
