Demerara based businessmen support Kendall’s Union SC

In a kind gesture, five Demerara based businessmen provided support for the Kendall’s Union Sports Club located on the Lower East Coast, Corentyne, Berbice.

The businessmen-Ramchand Ragbeer of Ramchand Auto Spares, Sheriff Street, Surendra Nauth of Nauth Motor Spares of Sheriff Street, Lalta Gainda of Gainmart, UG Road and Bel Air Rubis, Rickey Deonarain of 4R Bearings, Duncan Street and Dharam Persaud of Ariel Enterprise, Regent Street presented an undisclosed sum of cash to the club recently.
The donation will be used to help erect a children’s corner in the No 19 Village Cricket Ground.
The club’s President Albert Budhoo expressed gratitude to the businessmen and this will help to get the youths involved in sports and as a result, he and his executives came up with the idea to locate the project in the cricket ground so as to encourage them not only to play on the slides, swingers etc., but to get involve in love with sports, cricket in particular.
Budhoo called on the public to support these businesses so that they can continue to contribute to the development of communities across Guyana. He also thanked Anil Beharry, who was born in the said village and started his cricket there, for his role in soliciting the funds.
Beharry in response, said that he is pleased to be a part of this very important project and thanked his Floodlights teammates for readily coming on board. He added that he is always connected to the village of his birth and commended Budhoo and his executive for this initiative. Beharry, who served as an executive member on the Berbice Cricket Board for a number of years, called on overseas based residents of the area, private citizens and Corporate Guyana to come on board and make the project a reality adding that such ventures always carries a positive impact on the society.
