Cuba needs to bring some of its technology up to date. They have a very educated workforce. For example; A man can build a complete car windscreen in his backyard. They have to develop ways to be self-sufficient in renewable energy, building construction materials (such as good paint that does not wash out from a building with the hard Cuban rain) and food refrigeration. The people are not free also. For example; when Prashad lived in Guyana he put up an antenna in his yard to catch Radio Antilles, Barbadoes radio stations and Suriname Radio stations. A Cuban can get sentenced to 6 months in jail if he puts up an antenna in his yard to listen to American radio stations.

Convicted: Khamraj Lall
Guyanese-born Khamraj Lall, was convicted this week on several charges ranging from cocaine distribution to money laundering.
Lall was found guilty last Thursday of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, money laundering, structuring monetary instruments, and conspiracy to commit money laundering and structuring, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced yesterday.
Lall, 51, of Ringwood, New Jersey, was convicted on all eight counts of a superseding indictment following an eight-day trial before U.S. District Judge Anne E. Thompson in Trenton Federal Court.
According to documents filed in the case and the evidence at trial, from April 2011 through November 2014, Lall, a private pilot, smuggled hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Guyana to New Jersey and New York on his privately owned jet aircraft and then laundered the proceeds.
The accused, who owed a private jet charter business called Exec Jet Club in Gainesville, Florida, used the proceeds of his cocaine empire to purchase jet planes, houses, and cars. He also paid more than $2 million in cash stuffed in suitcases to a Florida contractor to build an airplane hangar in Guyana.
The Government of Guyana has since taken possession of the hangar at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport at Timehri.
According to the justice.gov, over a three and a half year period, Lall also made (or had others make) 1,287 cash deposits totaling approximately $7.5 million into more than 20 different bank accounts in New Jersey and New York, much of it in $20 bills.
In order to avoid detection and circumvent bank reporting laws, all 1,287 deposits were for amounts less than $10,000.
In November 2014, Lall was flying one of his jets from the United States to Guyana and stopped in Puerto Rico to refuel. An outbound search of the plane revealed $470,000 in cash stuffed into a suitcase hidden in the tail of the plane, and another $150,000 in cash hidden under a seat.
The conspiracy to distribute cocaine carries a minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of life in prison, and a $10 million fine. The counts for money laundering and conspiracy to launder money each carry a potential penalty of 20 years in prison. The counts of structuring and conspiracy to structure cash carry a potential penalty of 10 years in prison.
US authorities had moved to seize the cash, two planes and other properties related to Lall.
The investigations involved several agencies.
U.S. Attorney Carpenito credited special agents and task force officers of IRS-Criminal Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge John R. Tafur; the Morristown, New Jersey, police department, under the direction of Chief Peter Demnitz; special agents and staff of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Brian Michael; the Drug Enforcement Administration-Rochester, New York, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James J. Hunt; the Federal Aviation Administration, Law Enforcement Assistance Program; and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations Center under the direction of Richard T. Booth, with the investigation leading to the conviction.
The government was represented by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jonathan M. Peck and Thomas S. Kearney of the Criminal Division in Newark.
In Guyana, Lall was well known with his 2014 arrest in Puerto Rico a shock.
He is said to be the owner of the Kaylees gas station, East Bank Demerara. He ran a limousine service and said to have flown former President Donald Ramotar.
The cases involving Lall had spanned from Puerto Rico to New York to New Jersey.

I sorry for you Americans that can't visit Cuba, it's a clean, safe and beautiful place for a vacation. I visit there at least once a year and the Resorts are great, the beaches clean with blue water, the service and hospitality are fantastic. I would walk the streets of Havana without a guide, take a bus or taxi back to my resort, at any hour of the day/night.
I don't eat much, but lots of sea food ,chicken, pork and beef, fresh tropical fruits and delicious ice cream. The staff are all trained to be courteous and with a smile. Lots of people plan destination wedding in Cuba, it's cheap.
Over the years I made friends with many of the Locals, sometimes I go deep sea fishing with them, visit their humble home, in return I take things for them.
I still feel that Cuba gives the best holiday for your money, I have travelled many places.

My brother who is an American, would come over to Canada and fly with me to Cuba and No problem, but return with me to Canada then travel back to the US. He was the senior finance controller for one of Trump's Hotel but left recently, he said he does not want Muller to call on him, he also said 2019 is a rough yr for the Trump organisation, many mortgages are coming due.
Yes,Cuba is unspoilt, not commercialize , simple slow paced life.Put it on your bucket list.

Yes its wonderful to be a tourist to Cuba. Next time dine with a Cuban and I dont mean a member of the Cuban oligarchy or someone running a private restaurant. It will be advisable if you bring your own food, as well as enough for them.
Cuba is a very safe place. Also, it has some very good restaurants. The best stew mutton I ever tasted was at a restaurant in Havana. I never saw a single homeless person. I never saw a person spaced out on drugs like you see in Western cities. But there are many people living in a single apartment. That being said. Life is not easy. For example; an adult in Cuba is allowed 5 eggs a month. Prashad can eat an omlette with 5 eggs for breakfast. I never saw a single interracial couple when I was there. It seems that people marry each other based on hair color. Red hair with red hair, blond hair with blond hair and black hair with black hair. Nevertheless, I saw black supervisors ordering blond blue eyes women to sweep and wash concrete. That you will not see in the English speaking Caribbean.

Question does his American passport have a Cuban Entry Stamp.
My passport has Cuban entry and exit stamps at the back. I never had a problem with American Immigration when flying to America. I have not tested it in rural American border locations while driving.

Yes the Cuban authority do stamp your passport. Americans would have to get permission from the US government when traveling from the US. There are cruise ships going from Miami to Cuba.

Yes the Cuban authority do stamp your passport. Americans would have to get permission from the US government when traveling from the US. There are cruise ships going from Miami to Cuba.

BLACK Cubans say that white Cubans are NO different in Miami OR in Havana. Take a read of articles written by Carlos Moore. There was a symposium on racism among Cubans which I attended at the invitation of a black Cuban friend of mine. The black Cubans tongue lashed both the exiles and the Cuban elite.

There were always interracial couples in Cuba. The mulato population in 1953 exceeded the black population. In fact this is used by Cuban exiles to pretend as if racism wasn't that bad prior to Castro.
Cuba was racist then and it remains racist today. Castro wanted rap banned because too many of the rappers were talking about racism in Cuba.

Cuba is moderately better than Haiti. Far worse than any where else in the Caribbean. And this is obvious because Cuba and Haiti are the only Caribbean countries where Guyanese dont flee to. And it isnt language as tons of Guyanese live in countries surrounding Guyana.
Yes free healthcare is needed because poor eating habits and stress have created a very sick population. This while the Cuban oligarchs parade around the expensive nightclubs in NYC, Paris and elsewhere.

The state provides the land and cows to you and pay you a monthly salary to you to take care of the cows. When the cows have grown up then the state takes them away and gives you another set of calves to look after. If anyone steals those cows that belongs to the state then it is 5 years in prison if they are caught. The person who buys the stolen beef from you also gets 5 years in jail if caught.

Cubans steal the animals because they are hungry. They cannot afford to buy food in the private stores which do not take regular Cuban pesos. The gov't stores make the super markets in Guyana in the late 70s look full.

I got a good picture of what the real Cuba is. The government is getting their cut from the tour guides regardless of if the tour guide makes a profit or not. They have to pay the government $700 US per year for their tour guide permit, they have the cost of upkeep of their car, pay for fuel, cars are sometimes connected to Sirus radio for the tourists to listen to American music which is another $100 US plus they have to sometimes rent the car from the owner if they do not have a car.
