Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee yesterday lauded all those who have contributed to keeping community policing alive in Guyana.

According to GINA, he was speaking at a March Past, which was held in commemoration of the 36th anniversary of community policing at the West Demerara Secondary School.

This year, “D” Division is spearheadingall the activities, which are being held under the theme, “Building safer communities”, GINA said.

At present, there are 259 Community Policing Groups (CPGs) with a membership of over 4000 across Guyana, GINA said

“The significance of this anniversary lies in the fact that over 36 years, community policing has not only grown from strength to strength, but has extended its influence; it has now become a household name,” Rohee said, according to GINA..
