New York Gets Ready For Caribbean Week 2007


Hardbeatnews, NY, NY, Fri. June, 1, 2007: Caribbean Week is set officially for its New York kick off next week with events scheduled to enforce the recognition and acknowledgement of June as Caribbean-American Heritage Month.

The Caribbean Week 2007 schedule of events kicks off with a Caribbean Gospel Concert on June 9th at St. George's Episcopal Church in Manhattan. Featured performers are gospel artists, Lieutenant Stitchie, The GraceThrillers, Gerard Placide and Mya Daniel, among many others.

The Caribbean Celebrity Chef event, featuring chefs from world-class Caribbean resorts and restaurants, rolls into Bloomingdale's at 59th Street and Macy's Herald Square at 34th Street. The chefs are expected to serve sample dishes of Caribbean style and flavor.

This will be followed by the third series of Town Hall Meeting, set for June 11th in Brooklyn at Medgar Evers College and in the Bronx at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The meetings, sponsored in part by CaribWorldNews, offers Caribbean nationals an opportunity to interact with regional tourism minister.

On June 12th the Caribbean Fair and Vacation Mart, which has been in affect for three years, will take over Piers16 and 17 at the South Street Seaport. Keeping the week rolling, the 34th Annual Governments of the Caribbean State Ball is set for Friday, June 15th at the Waldorf Astoria's Grand Ballroom.

Caribbean week is scheduled to end with the annual Caribbean Beach Vollyball Tournament on June 16th -17th =. The winners of the tournaments will have a chance to compete in the Caribbean Beach Vollyball Championships taking place in Puerto Rico in November.
