This to end the lies that Canada tells. Parts of Canada were more segregated than NY.
And let us not even begin to discuss the problems of the Native population.
Historically, from around the 1840's, Canada heavily assisted the African slaves who were fleeing the US_of_A.
Did they? In fact so did many in the non slave states in the USA. So your point?
Why didn't hundreds of thousands of blacks flee the USA for Canada if it was this nirvana?
In fact as soon as slavery ended in the USA many of those left ONTARIO to had back south. Their attitude was if they were going to have to endure racism they might as well do so in a place which wasn't so cold.
And yes racial segregation occurred in the Maritimes as late as the 1940s.
Now run along and let your white Canada master pat you on the head for being a good little pet trying to spread his myths about Saint Canada.
When you indeed obtain the pertinent information, you will realise that your entire statement to my post, is inaccurate, irrelevant and useless.
I gave you links that would provide you with the pertinent information but your white Canadian master told you that you aren't allowed to read it.
Canada abolished slavery in 1838 because it was a British colony. Northern states abolished slavery in the 1820s. Slaves escaped from the slave states to the North, some continuing on to Canada. Why Canada gets the praise and not also these northern states is in your colonial brain.
Canada also had an immigrant policy that EXPLICITLY barred the entry of non whites. This was moved as late as 1962, just about when the USA was also undergoing its civil rights movement.
Now run along and learn the racial history of the Maritimes, where, prior to the arrival of Caribbean immigrants, most blacks in Canada lived. Want to see what Canadian attitudes to blacks was, look at Halifax!
Your Canadian master told you not to speak of the Maritimes because that will reveal that Canada was in fact no better than was the USA.
