In fact as soon as slavery ended in the USA many of those left ONTARIO to had back south.  Their attitude was if they were going to have to endure racism they might as well do so in a place which wasn't so cold.

And yes racial segregation occurred in the Maritimes as late as the 1940s.

Is it racism in general or specifically towards Blacks? I keep hammering into your skull that folks like you have muddied the water for Blacks throughout the world with your wrong and strong attitude. Canada abolished slavery in 1838 because it was a British colony. Northern states abolished slavery in the 1820s. Slaves escaped from the slave states to the North, some continuing on to Canada.  Why Canada gets the praise and not also these northern states is in your colonial brain.

I bet you didn't even read my comments about the Maritimes.  It is a DOCUMENTED fact that this region, which historically had the most visible population of blacks in Canada, until the 60s, was quite racist.

Unless you consider yourself to be black it was racism against you.  Despite your desperate attempts to be "white" you aren't and so would have been unable to migrate to Canada prior to 1962.

And white Canadians have tons of complaints about wealthy Chinese disrupting their lives and aren't necessarily that friendly to South Asians either.  It was only the other day that they stopped "Paki bashing" and willingly resume every time there is a terror attack.
