There is still hope for Guyana. Give it another ten to fifteen years.

The younger generation is slowly breaking the racial divide.

Mistrust between the two races is the main contributor of the racial divide. Burnham and Jagan drove a wedge between the races and Guyana is still suffering till this day.

The current administration must remove PNC's Harmon and Greenidge before the healing process can start.

Let us give Old Boy Moses credit for making the single biggest personal contribution and sacrifice in Guyana to break the race shackle.

So long as there is a non_cooperation movement from the PPP the Government will fail, just as there was non_cooperation from APNU and the AFC.

My objective was to help to instigate a coalition. You see I don't have a problem with an African Guyanese President. I also knew that a Granger-Nagamootoo ticket was unbeatable, especially if Jagdeo continues to call the shots in PPP. So race  was never part of my calculations, unlike so many of you folks in the AFC. If you read my perspectives on race conflicts in Guyana you will see that I argue intra-group social networks will almost always make appointments skewed in one direction, depending on whether PPP or PNC is in power. This is not economically efficient, but it is what you will get. You will not see a perfect government in Guyana. What they need are regular democratic changes, so that people can get accustomed to any person of any ethnicity being President.

Mission accomplished! Now, it is not my responsibility to make sure more Indians are selected on boards, etc. Mr Nagamootoo and Mr Ramjattan are your leaders, no?

On another matter, I don't see how I could resign from AFC when I was never completed a party card. AFC continues to be important in the grand scheme of Guyanese democracy, so I would still want to see them do well.

You see, I can make a living outside a political party. So, what Clarissa says does not matter. She needed a political party to make a career. Therefore, I don't see how Harmond can give me a mop? I am no party's Indian hero. None of those people can make a career outside a political party. I want to be known as an economist who gives balanced viewpoint on various issues.

Finally, I'd like you to ask me those questions face-to-face. I want you to accuse me of being Redux face-to-face. I can drive up to Orlando to make it easy for you.

I was at an out of state private event, met some Guyanese Businessmen, Indo, Portugese, Chinese, etc and few politicians.  All I can say, tough tough days ahead.  PNC will be getting constipation and belly wuk, all at the same time.  Them bai gon put the brakes on the economy, alyuh gon get dizzy.

Those who control political power have ZERO control of the productive assets.  You think you will shut the producers out of politics and they will "follow the leader", think again.  PNC is a shell, they destroyed all nationalized businesses way back so they have ZERO options as they did back in the day.

Soon all those racists jumping and prancing in the streets will be getting bully-hut from too much cassava bread. Racists people like that clown say she waited 23 years, great, in 23 months she will get white mouth.  You think Guyana belongs to Afros, well, you will see.

You are obviously talking to the oligarchs. There are many business people who want to invest and the coalition just need to give them some certainty. The coalition was seized by loud mouth populists who can't see further than their nose. They want to cut taxes, give big salary increases, give free UG education and the like. The money will drop like manna from heaven!! I was talking to some UG students and boy do they feel entitled. These fools don't understand that in a dankey cart economy like Guyana's there will be no free lunches!!! But I did caution the coalition not to allow the PPP to be seen as the pro-business party, especially given the legacy of Hoyte. But that is exactly what happened because these loud mouths felt populism was the way to go. And furthermore the economic downturn started in 2013 owing to the pop in commodity prices and the adversarial politics. The speed of the slowdown picked up in 2014 under PPP. They don't have GDP and labor market statistics, but you can still get an idea if you know where to look.

Of courseyou will claim that under Jagdeo there were no ethnic issues.  These only surface under a PNC dominated gov't.

You guys are such jokers.  No wonder Bajans laugh at you all when you try to sneak into their country.

Well it starts from the top.  Granger is a soldier and then became an academician.  Nagamootoo is an old time communist.  Even their economic advisor, Clive Thomas, comes out of the socialist/nationalist era when the priority was to free the society from the shackles of the plantation.

Who do they have who understands how economies work, or the fact that nothing in life is free?

And this is obvious even as we look at the composition of the Ministries.  The ONLY Ministry which will be engaged with the global economy is Tourism.  Why couldn't it have been tourism and international trade. I am not sure what the Ministry of Business does, but it appears as if its focus will be more on the micro and small enterprises.

So who is going to find new markets for rice.  Or develop an economic plan which will ensure that the incentives, fiscal policies, regulatory environment, and infrastructure are in place to attract foreign investment (including from the diaspora) and to assist our larger companies diversify their product mix and find new export markets?

They say Greenidge, but can he do so when he must be running around fighting off Maduro?

I am not surprised as I have long said that the PNC lacks intellectual capacity, and the AFC comprised of ambulance chasers, and had no long term plan.

They need to find those folks who tried to develop innovative economic development strategies, and who evolved into the Reform arm of the PNC.  Some of their ideas were fantasies, but at least they had ideas.  All I am hearing from APNU/AFC is rhetoric.

But in a place like Barbados, some of their leaders understand how history and heritage can also bring in tourist $$$.
