Berbice Cricket Board Second Division competition…Port Mourant, Fort Canje, #77, # 70 CC & # 70 MYO record wins

The Berbice Cricket Board Second Division competition gained momentum over the last weekend, and spread its arms in every corner of the county, as teams vie to qualify for the quarter final rounds.
At the Port Mourant Community Center on the Corentyne, Port Mourant defeated Big Stars by 218 runs in their 40 over affair. Batting first, Port Mourant Community Center Cricket Club scored 274 with Andy Mohan 96, M. Hemraj 50, and V. Senwasane on 32 not out. Mahendra Gorindan contributed 24 while under-17 player Dorasammi Mahadeo was left on 10 not out.
Bowling for Big Stars, Keron Hooper took 3 for 38, while M. Tyndall, J. Velloza and Keon Hooper took 1 each. In their batting innings, the Stars were all bowled out for 56. N. Hunte was the only batsman to reach double figures with 20 runs.
At the Lochaber ground, Fort Canje defeated Mount Sinai by 79 runs. Batting first, the Fort Canje Eagles scored 259 with J. De Freitas scoring 73, N. De Jonge 53, A. Seenarine 29 and K. Ramsarran 22.
Bowling for Mount Sinai, R. Mohammed took 3 for 56 in his 6 overs, J. Gansham took 2 for 27 while A. Bugjith and R. Victor took 1 each.
Mount Sinai replied with 180 in their allotted overs with M. Mickle on 25, E. Schultz 53, K. Mickle 33 and W. Edoo 24 not out.
Fort Canje’s bowling was spearheaded by K. Ramsarran who took 3 for 29 in his 5 overs, while M. Barker took 2 for 38 in 6 overs. Gregory Crandon and M. Singh took one wicket each.
In the Upper Corentyne Zone, # 77 Sports Club defeated # 72 Cut & Load by 3 wickets in their 40 overs match. Batting first, # 72 Cut & Load scored a total of 197 with C. Beresford on 48, C. Laljit 26, D. Chatterpaul 37 and R. Joseph 21.
Bowling for # 77 Sports Club, A. Singh had figures of 3 for 25 in 6.1 overs, while W. Garnett, G. Ramnarine and K. Rogers took 2 wickets each for 40, 38 and 27 respectively.
In # 77’s batting reply, they managed to achieve the target in 28 overs. T. Ramdass scored a blistering 120, while G. Ramnarine scored 56. Bowling for # 72 Cut & Load, D. Chatterpaul took 2 for 40 in 7.1 overs, while M. Singh took 1 for 41 in his 8 overs.
At the # 70 Cricket Ground, hosts # 7o defeated # 71 CC by 75 runs. Batting first # 70 scored 222 as their batsmen T Ramoutar 41, Viendra Gooniah 36, Chris Bollers 26 and Ryan Yacoob 17 all showed resistance to the # 71 bowlers. Bowling for # 71 CC, M. McIntosh took 3 for 45 in 7 overs, S. Khan 3 for 39 in 5 while D. Doodharry and D. Ramdat took 1 wicket each.
Replying to the 222 set by # 70 CC, # 71 CC were bowled out for 147. Batsmen Budram Sookdeo scored 25, N. Mohammed 29, and D. Doodharry 16. Bowling for # 70 CC, Omesh Khemraj took 5 for 30 in 7 overs, while Viendra Gooniah took 2 for 34 in 7 overs.
At the # 70 MYO Ground, # 70 MYO defeated Bomb Squad by 89 runs. Batting first, MYO scored 184 with Alim Haniff 78, and J. Assad 32. Bowling for Bomb Squad, R. Mohabir took 4 for 15 in his 7 overs, Satesh Toolsie 3 for 34 in his 7 overs.
In their reply, Bomb Squad were dismissed for 96 runs in 18 overs. Batsmen R. Mohabir, and A. Pooran each scored 25, while the others failed to reach double figures. Bowling for # 70 MYO, N. Khan took 4 for 18 in his 4 overs, while J. Assad and A. Khan took 2 each.
The competition continues today, November 12, at venues across the county.
