Boysie Ramkarran also served as Minister of Works and Communications in the 1957/61 PPP government and Minister of Works and Hydraulics in the 1961/1964 PPP government.  And was the General Secretary of GAWU between 1975 and 1985.

It's time we have a Ramkarran in the Presidential seat.  Bayney is a QC boy and a lawyer by profession.  His term as Guyana's ambassador to the US was just terminated by Granger.

Indeed. I have had the opportunity to meet with Boysie Ramkarran, while his sons and I were students at high school.

I was expecting a follow up post from Bibi detailing the fresh ideas from Bayney and Selman. Not even certain Bayneynis a member of the PPP. Selman came over from APNU when she found out that there was no future for her there. I understand that there was a back room deal between her and the PPP when she was an MP for the other side. That is the story that was going around. Also, I am not certain that he can get around some of the supposed contenders - Jagdeo, Rohee and Donald.  It will be interesting, and this might be affected by the many forensic audits, if they actually find anything to use against Jagdeo.

Africo was being bribed by the PPP while she was an APNU member. She decided to jump ship for more soup because she expected the PPP to win, but she got the shaft.

I don't know what their ideas would be.  But they are very qualified people.  I think Guyana is ready for a new breed of politicians.  No more Jagdeo, Rohee, Donald, Granger, Naga, Greenidge.  Been there done that.  The country needs hope.  They do not trust the old school politicians anymore.

I would agree that Guyana needs a new breed of politicians , people with a strong sense of what serving the people means and with a strong sense of integrity. I do not know much about Bayney other than what has been posted here and some snippets in the newspapers. but I am certain that Selman does not meet those criteria.

1. While the names are identified, it is still the "talking and speculation" phase.

2. The forensic audits are shams to divert from the ineptness of the current government.

Who can run against, Jagdeo, Rohee or Ramotar in PPP/C for leadership?

It would be a 1000% times better if Cheddi 3rd or even Comrade Donald part two or Anil or Comrade Rohee run as the PPP candidate than this

PPP has a nice crop of upcoming young politicians.  You forgot to mention the PPP rising star, the young Balram Singh Rai, aka Charles Ramson.  I don't think Cheddi 3rd wants to go back to Guyana.  He too busy eating dhall puri at Singh's Roti Shop And seems to like the Liberty Avenue life.  Plus I think he daddy done give him the PNC cool aid to drink.  Hopefully he didn't swallow.  Anil would be my second choice if Bayney doesn't run.

Yes to this.  Jagdeo wins the charisma prize.  He doesn't buckle under pressure.  It's a shame that the PNC dragged his character into the gutter.  And this man is the most loyal PPP member of the party.

Well, I guess misery likes company, albeit reluctant company.  Remember, PNC is at home in the gutter.

Clearly they are afraid of him.  It's telling with the amount of time and effort they spend demonizing him.  Just look at the board, and add that the rejects, man it's telling.

LOL

They are dreaming.  You don't tell the PPP who is should be their Presidential hopeful. They have spoiled Bayney's chances of being the Presidential candidate in 2020.

R

What needs to be understood without ambiguity is that the political party that purports to be the PPP is NOT the PPP. It is a breakaway organization just as Burnham's PNC after the split in the 1950s.

We have to look at what the original PPP was between the two breakaways and review it critically. That PPP genuinely tried to be inclusive of all races in the working class and was leftist though it did not public disavow or ban religious practices.

The breakaway group headed by Jagdeo must not be seen against the backdrop of this PPP. It must be seen by its actions - both in governing (the drugs and crime and an economy still with 1960s structure) and on campaigns (appeal to the Indian fears of the Black man).

To those Indians whose only criterion is that Indians are finally given respect as not to be bullied, Jagdeo is seen as transformative. That's why there is the outpouring by Baseman nas Rama and others.

JAGDEO'S CHARACTER IS THE GUTTER.

Jagdeo might be a loyal PPP member,[similar to hundreds of others] but you should visit R6 under his trained loyalists Mutt and Jeff.  To see the devastation, those now in the CC, as key people to maintain Jagdeo as PPP leader.  Did to the youth and women, that might take decades to reverse.

It looks like he Papa na teach him any manners and as leader of a country, he is a failure, who contributed to people's immorality.

Jagdeo got the CC around his little finger.  Who in the PPP got any balls to question his leadership, or to replace him ?  Ramotar or Rohee ?

Who often contradict each other with their own statement ?

Very simplistic and self serving.

BJ is one of the better leaders in Guyana, though not perfect, but who is, maybe only you.

The moral decay in Guyana has little to do with BJ or the PPP.  Had they taken some draconian measures, they you all would say something else.  I happen to have migrated prior to the PPP and met many Guyanese in NY and other places.  I was actually surprised at what was deemed as "normal", from music, drinking to sporting among the Indian diaspora, men and woman.  This behavior and attitude was imported back to Guyana, the barrel mentality took hold, the broken family became the norm, mother/father away, younger kids left with older kids, kids left with relatives, etc.

The moral decay in Guyana, especially among certain groups of Indians went deeper and beyond the PPP.  I saw myself, several close-knit families in Guyana and what happened when they flew apart.

Blaming BJ for the morality of some Indians in Guyana is like blaming Burnham for duglarization, even what occurred before he was even born.

Let's hear why Baseman.

  • Talk about how Jagdeo's party encouraged and built the light manufacturing sector.
  • Talk about how the Jagdeo party diversified Guyana from the primary Commodities based economy.
  • Talk about how the education and skill level of the average Guyanese worker increased under Jagdeo
  • Talk about how Guyana took off with the Information Technology opportunities.

Just look at Barbados and Trinidad to see how they took off in these areas, while Guyana remained a primary-produce economy at the mercy of the vicissitudes of the economic cycle.

Talk about the educational infrastructure Jagdeo built in Guyana. Talk about the law and order situation that was not outsourced.

Please be specific when you wish to lord over someone's greatness. It must be obvious about a man's greatness.

I implore you baseman to address these glowing attributes of Jagdeo asa leader who fostered great unity and a productive population - not one that is waiting on the next flight to JFK. The man is one of the best leaders you say, so it should be easy to reel off the accomplishments. Just don't include a macro-economic environment that was healthy from an external debt obligation standpoint as Cheddi Jagan had already paved this potty street for him.,
