Chief, I have a few questions. I assume your company in a employment agency.

Our company is  in the service industry and completely different than your, however,

1. Why do we need a employment agency to get a job.

2. Do your agency pay over time, for statuary holidays .

When I came to North America, my first job was through a agency. I receive no benefits. I believe they are a rip off.

I believe these companies are the reasons for qualified people not getting the pay they deserve. They employ people who don't have their work permit. I can go on with more.

What a quality employment agency, referring to women as "sweet women".  What about Nehru's male friends who might be in the field, are they "sweet-men"?

Not sure which decent woman (or man) will want to be associated with this clown!!  That in of itself reflects a certain lack of respect for women!!  I don't get these people, but the great America is a free country!!

I was hoping to see responses  from the female on this forum.

Base I am happy you went after him.

Did he lost respect for women after his visit to the middle east.

Hey Ian thanks for your questions.

Yes my company is an agency however we do not charge a fee to the candidates who are looking for jobs. All fees are paid by  Companies  that hire us to find talent for them.

You do not need an agency to find you a job of course you can do this on your own. However on the other employees like yourself are always looking for better everything , from wages to benefits. Headhunters and employment agencies have access to several jobs that are available so employees come to us for placements.

Yes the law is that all employees must be paid for overtime and of course I pay all my temps for over time work.

I am not sure which agency employ people without work permit for this is against the law, at least my company does not do that.

Everyday Staffing Agencies across America employ some 14 million people and we play a crucial role in assisting people in finding  the right fit for them.

Please go to the  American Staffing Association website,  hopefully you will gain more knowledge of our industry.

Thanks Chief for your response. I don't want to go into details on the purpose of Employment Agencies. I understand it's a business and I will leave it there.

However, I had the experience  recently to be part of a garage bin disposal contract. We need a a few more workers to  assemble the bins and approach a Temp Agency.

A few of the workers that came approach me to hire them directly and was surprised when they ask for cash payment to work directly with us because they don't have their work permit. But these workers were hired by the Agency.

We had the contract with the agency, so our Human Resource Dept don't ask for documentation from the workers.

As such, I felt the agencies are exploiting the workers compare to what we were paying the Agency and their is legit workers who can't find a job.

FM

Agency pay $15-$18/hr

Agency gets paid $50/hr or more

Some agencies get a one time fee from companies...some get from the candidates

Nothing inherently wrong with agencies....they do help people find jobs. these same people sometimes find it difficult to land an interview with companies

Your company like others, are there to make the maximum profit and as such they look for the cheapest vendors.

Chief, every company looks to maximize on profit, a worker been paid for their worth will deliver on productivity and the company will benefit also .

Agencies is  living of the sweat of the workers - don't you AGREE!!! . The workers become the slave to the agencies.

Since you have advertise for Nurses and Assist Physician.. what do you pay for these positions and also for regular labor.

I don't think Chief can pay these people...this is most likely a case where he gets a fee from the hospital, if the hospital hires them...

Basically you approach HR and say that you can supply candidates, and if they are hired, you get a fee...

It's unfortunate that you have this negative view about staffing agencies. There are very large agencies that are publicly traded  and then there are small mom and pops.

A Vital Workforce That Supports the Economy

Every day, staffing businesses send three million employees to work in America’s offices, factories, hospitals, warehouses, and other work sites—virtually every place that people work, staffing employees are on the job.

The staffing industry, comprised of more than 17,000 staffing firms and 14 million staffing employees, contributes nearly $130 billion to the U.S. economy through temporary and contract staffing, recruiting and permanent placement, outsourcing and outplacement, and human resource consulting.

Staffing is an essential industry that provides vital flexibility and support to businesses, and opportunities and flexibility for employees.
Companies depend on staffing employees to get through busy seasons and to support major projects, new clients, and business growth. The flexibility staffing provides gives companies a competitive edge in matching resources and payroll to the needs at hand. More and more, companies are placing an increased premium on more flexible and agile workforces—and staffing plays a vital role in that strategy.

For employees, staffing offers a number of compelling benefits. At the top of that list is a bridge to permanent jobs—nearly nine out of 10 staffing employees say that temporary or contract work makes them more employable. One half say it’s a way to get a permanent job. One-third of temporary and contract employees were offered permanent positions by clients where they worked on assignments—two-thirds of those accepted the offers of employment.

Time has shown that staffing isn’t just good for our economy; it is an essential industry that provides vital flexibility and support to businesses, and opportunities and flexibility for employees. And as the economy continues to evolve, with information and connectivity coming to dominate its core, the staffing, recruiting, and workforce solutions industry is prepared to provide the vital support businesses need to grow and prosper.

There are are different categories of staffing.

In this instance we pay the employees and they work as temp until the hospitals ready to hire them as permanent.

What Staffing Firms Do

Temporary and contract staffing firms play a vital and positive role in the U.S. economy by providing job opportunities and work schedule flexibility to millions of people and a broad range of workforce solutions to businesses.

People engage with the staffing industry because it is a proven bridge to permanent employment. Staffing also offers much-desired work schedule flexibility—the ability to work where, when, and how one wants to help achieve work–life balance. Temporary and contract employees work in virtually all occupations, ranging from skilled trades to degreed professionals and across industry sectors: engineering, information technology, and scientific; health care; industrial; office–clerical and administrative; and professional–managerial.

Because staffing firms employ the employees they assign to clients, they are responsible for paying wages, withholding and remitting employment taxes (including Social Security and unemployment), providing workers’ compensation insurance, and providing a variety of employee benefits. As employers, staffing firms are responsible for compliance with all applicable labor, employment, and employee benefit laws, including those pertaining to worker health and safety.

Businesses say that workforce flexibility is an important reason to work with staffing firms because it allows them to remain fully staffed during busy times. Whether it’s a temporary job lasting a few months or several years—or a temp-to-hire placement—staffing firms allow businesses to adjust their workforces to meet their changing needs. Partnering with a staffing firm can be a powerful business strategy for a company.
