MINISTER of Health, Dr. Leslie Ramsammy has predicted that the ruling People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) will win a resounding victory at the upcoming National and Regional Elections. Speaking at a political meeting on the Essequibo Coast Sunday night, he also specified victory in Regions Four and Ten.

Ramsammy told hundreds of supporters that Guyanese have seen the development taking place across the country under the PPP/C Government and will vote for the party to continue in office for another five years.

He declared that Guyana is a success story under the PPP/C and development can be seen in every area.

According to him, today Guyanese are not struggling to put food on the table but are trying to build better houses and buy motor cars or motorcycles because things are much better in the country through the sound economic policies of the Government.

He said the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR), now disguised as A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), is the same set of people who had destroyed the country during its years of rule.

Minister Ramsammy said the PNCR was changed to APNU because of its unpopularity.

Minister of Transport and Hydraulics, Mr. Robeson Benn, who also spoke to the large gathering, said the PPP/C is building the country after years of neglect and mismanagement by the former PNC regime.

Benn pointed to development across the country, with new roads, bridges, housing, treated water, drainage and irrigation, new rip rap design seawalls, schools and hospitals.

He said roads are now equipped with street lights and promised that, in Region Two, the street lighting project will continue next year.

The minister also told the crowd that, by year end, two new ferries, equipped with roll on roll off facilities, will be put into operation between Good Hope and Parika to boost river transport.

He said the Government has done well and there is still much more to be done in the future, so Essequibians must vote for the PPP/C at the elections to ensure that development continues.

Other speakers at the meeting included Region Two Chairman, Mr. Ali Baksh, Ms. Sabra Basir and Mr. Rudolph Williams.
