Why was this not a problem when he did the same from Kaieteur News(condeming everything the PPP did or say) when the PPP was in office? Let's be impartial here Mr. Raff.

Guyana times is atrocious and was formed from oligarchic expropriation. It was at the forefront of race-baiting since 2011. There is a definite consistency of campaign policies of PPP since before 2011 election and GT. If you follow the letters and articles you will see a conscious trend to demonize blacks and scare Indians. It turns out the PPP lost both times. Come 2020...PPP = 45%.

I don't disagree...but half the stuff is just copy and paste with no kinda discussion

Would like to take you up on that, and wish to point out that most of the post from Guyana Times that is on the forum, there are discussion on it:

I think that the sole reason for your acting this way, is that you are more leaning towards the PNC and also do want to muzzle news of the PPP/C, my personal feelings in that you should stop taking sides and treat everyone equally.

Guyana Times is a National Newspaper, if you want to restrict the news from that newspapers being more lenient towards the Coalition Government,  then I have nothing against that.........but come straightforward and say so..........do not beat around the bush.

I steal but because I don't say I am a thief, I am therefore not a thief.

If someone say they are not what they are doing, then they are not.

There is a larger percentage of Indians that voted for the PNC than there are blacks that voted for the PPP. The best examples were when Trotman headed the AFC, blacks supported it spiritedly. However, the following election when Ramjattan headed the AFC, those blacks went away from voting for the AFC.

Yet we keep reading the nonsense that Indians vote race while Blacks don't.

From the same people who were pontificating before the election that the Coalition were going to me amazing from day one.

Well y'all can try selling that along with the bridge that y'all have been trying to sell.

ASJ I was wondering the same thing myself.  Every day another rant from the Guyana Times.

This is hardly an objective source of information when one compares it with KN, or SN.  Even as we speak both papers have begun to voice areas of concern that they have with APNU/AFC, so clearly aren't owned by those parties.

The PPP no longer controls NCN, or GINA, so now use media owned by the oligarchs, many of whom are quite depraved.

1.  Who is saying that blacks don't vote race?  NO ONE!  But hear this.  They accepted and listened to Rupert Roopnarine in 2011, and to Moses Nagamootoo in 2015.

In fact when some of them thought that the PPP was trying to rig the election Moses was right in the midst of a dense crowd of blacks trying to calm them?  Now YOU mightn't consider Moses to be an Indian, but most normal Guyanese do!

Now compare this with the PPP stripping Sam Hinds of the Presidency as they feared how Indians would react to that!

2.  Jagdeo and Ramotar were to blacks what Burnham was to Indians.  Do you suggest that Indians should have voted for the PNC in 1992?  Have you heard any one suggest that there was something wrong that they didn't do so?

Seriously.  Demanding that blacks vote for the PPP in 2015 would be like demanding that Jews voted for Adolf Hitler in the late 30s.  Jagdeo's screams against blacks was as vulgar as that of Hitler against Jews!  You with your complete disregard for Afro Guyanese will not bother to care about this very fact.

3.  You called me a racist when I pointed out that the PPP was AS RACIST as the PNC was in the Burnham era.

In Guyana, any narrative which fails to exclude Indians from racism, even as Africans are accused of anti Indian attitudes, results in one being a racist.

4.  It is the failure of Indians to accept, and condemn the significant levels of bigotry which exist within their community which leads some to consider them to be ethnically exclusive and hostile to blacks.

The Indians who do speak out against this racism are black listed and damned by the larger Indian community.  So how does this make Indians look to non Indians!

Stop shoveling manure.  Grass roots blacks called the AFC the "potagee and red people party"  The votes which they got in 2006 came mainly from the African middle class, and mixed voters.

If you care to, look at my posts in summer 2011 when I was warning the AFC that they were ignoring the black vote, by focusing 100% of their campaign in Berbice.

Ramjattan lost some of the support which Trotman won, because Ramjattan DID NOT WANT IT.  There is a reason why parties campaign, and that is to gain support from voters. When a party doesn't campaign in front of a voter bloc, it risks not winning their support.

Even Gerhard Ramsaroop admitted to me, here on GNI, that the AFC made a calculated risk by not campaigning in majority black areas, until it was too late.  And that they suffered as a result.

But you see Indians take the African vote for granted, and do not take the time to woo these people, and then they scream race when they don't get their support.

APNU/AFC campaigned MASSIVELY in front of Indians.  If you cannot see the difference then you are stupid, or a dishonest fraud.

Speaker scolds Guyana Times and Citizens Report over false reports

The Speaker replayed a brief recording from Thursday morning’s consideration of the 2015 estimates of expenditure in the House for all MPs to hear before calling on the online news outfit, Citizens’ Report and the daily, Guyana Times to correct the falsehoods of their reports.

Speaker scolds Guyana Times and Citizens Report over false reports

Speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Barton Scotland commenced Friday’s sitting of the House by upbraiding a People’s Progressive Party Member of Parliament and two media houses closely aligned with the PPP for the misinformation disseminated by them in relation to funding for the inauguration of Guyana’s 8th Executive President, David Granger.

The Speaker replayed a brief recording from Thursday morning’s consideration of the 2015 estimates of expenditure in the House for all MPs to hear before calling on the online news outfit, Citizens’ Report and the daily,  Guyana Times to correct the falsehoods of their reports.

The reports claimed that some $36 Million of state funds was utilized for the inauguration of President Granger at the National Stadium back in May 2015.

The Speaker registered his disappointment with the PPP MP, who he did not name, for repeating the false information despite him given and undertaking to review the proceedings of the House.

“I think it is true to say that information move along here at a very speedy rate, with respect to the online news service, there is a duty to inform the nation of everything but I believe there is also obligation equally to ensure that the information provided is accurateâ€Ķ it is the only way by which fairness can be maintained,” the Speaker said.

The APNU+AFC coalition government on Friday maintained that no state funds were used for the inauguration.

Finance Minister Winston Jordan provided further clarity on the issue and said that only $1 million was used from the public purse to carry out cleaning and maintenance works on the Providence, East Bank Demerara facility.

granger

Jordan said the $1 million was merely an investment in the stadium that now stands to benefit future events as he lamented the state of washroom and other facilities.

The Opposition People’s Progressive Party has been urging the government to make a full disclosure of the cost for the event and where the monies came from as it speculated that public funds were used.

In response, the administration has always maintained that the event, which is billed in the millions, was funded by private interest along with supporters and well wishers of President Granger.

The PPP had also raised concerns over the funding for a birthday celebration held in July at the Army Camp Ayangana Base in Georgetown.

The government has also said that no state funds were utilized for that event.

Now I see your racial bias.  Even after Trotman was tossed out of the PNC< and became an open enemy to them, he is still "a PNC".

You cannot show any evidence that Indians ever support the PNC, without an alliance with another party, so stop shoveling manure.

In fact the PPP has always had more African/mixed support than the PNC has had Indian support, this despite the fact that the PPP is as odiously racist, as the PNC was during the Burnham era.

Riff is now crossing the limits here. He is an admitted PNC supporter and is now endorsing a PNC style dictatorship at GNI.

Amral please take note.

When I was calling to replace riffraff y'all think I wanted his job. Well think again why he must go. You have a particular member who is coaching him that the dictatorship government in Guyana is making legislation to get rid of free speech and riffraff get excited about it. The same thing GR was trying by lying to the Canadian and take control on GNI. Riffraff must go NOW.
