Armed bandits just after 8 last night invaded the home of former murder accused, Marcus Brian Bisram, located at Number 70 Village, Corentyne, and carted off a large sum of cash and jewellery.

Based on information gathered, five armed bandits entered the premises and robbed Bisram of over $5M in cash and jewellery.

Stabroek News was reliably informed that while no-one was seriously injured some persons sustained lashes with a cutlass from the bandits.

Commander of Region Six, Jairam Ramlakhan, when contacted around 9.22 pm, said, that he could not confirm anything, since he had not received any information from his ranks at that time.

Up to press time last evening, investigators remained on the scene.

Seems as though Marky got his bamsy slapped with the broadside of a cutlass. Relatives ripping off their own, sometimes having them killed is such a dam problem in Guyana, trust is out the door.

Cain, you are missing the point. It's a normal procedure for the police to take such an action. It's not about trust.

If you eliminate family members, then you have to look at close friends who may have come to know about the wealth stored in the house.

I didn't follow this up, he was acquitted of the murder charges?

Anybody who keeps $5 million in his house is looking for trouble. That is not something you advertised. Therefore, you have to look at family members as the first suspects.

Every one knows that Bisram got rental properties in Manhattan that he bought when the real estate market had tanked in 2008. He is a sitting duck for every Guyanese criminal.

This is the type of info that fuels home invasions in Guyana. Very responsible journalism eh!

Who said Crime does not pay? Well not in Guyana.

Hope Mr. Zed is safe.

When will the Irfan Ali govt  be serious about bandits brazenly storming into people's home? Guyana is not a safe place for we de the farins.

It seems like the journalists were called about an hour before the police.

Just like during the last PPP government. This could get so bad again that Indians will protest at police stations, for lack of protection from bandits.

It hard to understand that an Indian government don't find better ways to protect their Indian voters.
