Thirty five APNU activists from Linden and Plaisance threatened to pull out from organizing an APNU 'Thank You' and also picket the event tomorrow in the bauxite mining town over that party's snubbing of long-time Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR) member, Aubrey Norton from its list of 26 parliamentarians to sit in the 65 seat National Assembly.
Norton is expected to be summoned to a meeting later today to discuss his exclusion following the protest.

A usually reliable source at Congress Place revealed that APNU Chairman, David Granger and APNU Vice Chairman Dr. Rupert Roopnaraine agreed to hold talks with Norton after a more than two-hour meeting with disgruntled pro-Norton supporters yesterday.
The source said Norton is expected to meet with the full selection panel comprised of Granger, Roopnaraine, PNCR Leader, Robert Corbin; Leader of the National Front Alliance, Keith Scott and Representative of APNU's list, Cammmie Ramsaroop.

No specific explanation was given for Norton's exclusion but it we learnt that Corbin might have had a major hand in Norton's exclusion because of a major fall-out some years ago over the transparency of internal elections.

quote"The APNU list of Parliamentarians raises eyebrows for the startling omissions and reinforces the call by OneVoice News for the abolition of the closed list system by all political parties in Guyana.

It is clear just by a cursory look at this list that several of those selected are mere political hacks and hangers-on with connections to the King Maker.. .unquote

quote...The recent exclusion of Mr. Aubrey Norton, Nicole Telford and others from the APNU list of representatives is a glaring example of all that is wrong with the system. It is a well known fact that Norton has not had a stellar relationship with PNC leadership and sources close to the selection process have told OVNN that it was this fact that resulted in his disrespectful and unceremonious omission from the list of representatives. Nicole Telford would have easily been a more effective pick to represent NFA than the ailing Keith Scott who is still recovering from a recent stroke. Mr. Scott is simply unable to perform at the very high level required of this parliament and the fact that he was chosen further reinforces that merit was not a major criteria in the male dominated, closed door, selection process.

It was also brought to our attention that one female candidate held a significant advantage because of her close relationship with a very influential party big-shot. If these allegations are true then what example does this set for Guyanese women, for our daughters? The APNU must take a long hard look in the mirror and cleanse itself from elements that bring such shame and dishonor to the partnership".unquote

Just after the PPP implodes.

So tell us. Are the PPP old dogs screaming that 'we knew that "little aunty man" would destroy the PPP...bringing in PPP thugs'?

What makes you think that the PPP has been destroyed? WE have the Majority of votes. 60% voted against the PNC/APNU.

The PPP has formed the Government and has formed an all PPP cabinet.

Can you show me when this happened. I thought most were too busy shopping to care. Further they didnt find the marching upsetting as they shopped and shopped and shopped (with that remittance money)...not staying home afraid to go out.

OK here's logic 101.

If there is no consensus between the oppostion what is the outcome? The outcome is the PPP will run things.

That is not the reason why 51% voted out the PPP. Get my drift.

Stop worrying about the AFC and APNU worry about what the PPP will do when they are outnumbered.

They will negotiate with APNU and not the AFC.

You are not the spokeperson for the PPP which have distanced itself from you.

61% did not vote for the PPP and they are blaiming you for their defeat. You did a bad job with your drunken rantings.

APNU thinks that they are in charge. Someone must told them that the PPP does not have power anymore, so Granger must have thought that he has it.
