Belle West man dies after reportedly beaten by neighbour - Stabroek News

Mohamed Rasheed of Belle West

A 67-year-old resident of Belle West Canal 2 died after he was allegedly kicked in the abdomen by a young neighbour.  Dead is Mohamed Rasheed called `Spanner’.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Simon McBean told Stabroek News last night that Rasheed had been admitted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital following an alleged altercation and died of a lung infection yesterday.

His alleged attacker, who has been identified as a neighbour is currently in Police custody assisting with the investigation.

Rasheed’s daughter-in-law Ronadai told Stabroek News that her father in law was attacked after returning from the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) rally in Berbice on Sunday.

She related that a group of persons from Belle West had hired a canter to take them to the rally and that on returning her father in law was dropped off at the head of his street at 11:30 pm.

At about 4:30 am on Monday morning she received a call from a neighbour saying that Mohamed had been beaten and needed to be taken to the hospital.

According the woman, her father in law while in hospital, told her a man said to be in his twenties who lives a street away passed him on a bicycle and realizing it was Mohamed turned back and punched him in the face causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect then allegedly stomped on his stomach.

Rasheed was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was admitted to the ward and place on life support.

At about 10:30 am yesterday the family was informed that he had died.  His body is currently at Ezekiel Funeral Parlour with a post mortem expected to be scheduled.

When Stabroek News visited the home of Rasheed’s son, the young man was inconsolable. His wife, Ronadai lamented that since his father’s death her husband “take in sick and vomiting”.

“We want justice. He wasn’t sick,” she said of her father in law.

Mohamed is survived by five sons, one daughter, 28 grandchildren and a sister.

APNU/AFC supporter assaults cop

A female supporter of the A Partnership for National Unity/Alliance for Change (APNU/AFC) coalition, during the Nomination Day proceedings, assaulted a female Police Officer who was on duty. The crowd of coalition supporters was trying to enter the compound, where only select individuals were allowed.

This composite photo shows the Police Officer wearing her watch (right) and photo on the left shows the officer’s damaged watch

The female supporter was asked by the cop to step away from the gate; however, she refused. She then began to shove the Police Officer and physically abuse her.
When several media houses tried to capture the incident on camera, other supporters used their flags and umbrellas to block the cameras. It was later discovered that the supporter ripped off the Police Officer’s watch and part of her uniform.

Freddie does talk about deductive reasoning which can be used in this instance. Since there is no evidence of robbery or rivalry given that Rasheed was returning from the PPP massive and successful rally which by the way has the Coalition supporters green with envy, it is reasonable to suggest that the perpetrator was a Coalition supporter. Given the severity of the attack ending with Rasheed dying from his injuries, it is reasonable to suggest that the perpetrator was a PNC supporter.

That's their take !!! The changed thread heading ,reflects the headline of the article from Stabroek News.

https://www.stabroeknews.com/2...beaten-by-neighbour/

Moderators of FORUMS ,don't cross limits.

I don't post misleading articles , all sources are provided ,if headings are changed, the article reflects  the headings.

That's good you will provide the info from your inside sources, so no need to remove the thread.

Would suggest you read the comments from bloggers on Stabroek News.

Conjecture sounds like such a dirty word.

Freddie calls it deductive reasoning. I call it the same thing.

I am not interested in any one's comments bai. I have yet to expect anyone to be interested in mine so there is no way I will make a different standard for others.

Remember that I am only talking here for talk sake.

Yo doin a fine job Django.

Some people just dont get it, post your dam source or it goes.  Should a poster wish to post negative on their behalf so be it but to tell us something you "heard" from someone who know somebody and shove it into an article where it never existed, is wrong.
