APNU+AFC Administration must be voted out to correct Guyana’s volatile socio-political and economic environment

DEAR EDITOR,

I take the informed view that the Granger led APNU+AFC administration has created a volatile socioeconomic and political environment, especially since the carried no-confidence motion of December 21. Together, Mr Granger and his administration have demonstrated flagrant disregard for the rule of law. The undemocratic and wanton acts of the Cabinet members bear this out. Further, Mr. Granger’s most recent posture, in response to the CCJ decisions on the no-confidence and the unilateral appointment of Mr. Patterson, is unfathomable, though not totally surprising. It seems the administration has fanned fire into a blaze rather than dousing it.
To begin, Mr. Granger talks about respect for the law, and keeps repeating his adherence to the ruling of the CCJ, and in the same breath, he is asking the Court to explain his flawed and unconstitutional act. Isn’t he the same Granger who refused to provide an explanation for rejecting the Opposition Leader’s lists of names for the position of Chairman of GECOM? It appears Mr. Granger and his APNU+AFC are bent on creating mayhem. In fact, it has been opined that his most recent speech appears to be taunting the populace. Further, during the CCJ-hearings, the Attorney General told the CCJ that decision(s) contrary to the government would likely lead to social disorder in Guyana. What was the AG implying? Or could he have been instigating disorder? It is well accepted that the subordination of justice to the executive authority defines a non-democratic system.
A stable environment exists where the population is free from major threats to their safety, and where national and international investors have trusts in the political, economic and other important governance institutions. These institutions have now been thrown into disarray; public officials have changed gears and seemed to have fast tracked into corrupt and pillaging mode with a spate of illegal financial acts. There is no doubt that foreign as well as local investors’ confidence in Guyana has drastically declined, if not lost all together.

Yours sincerely,

It must be really troubling for PNC supporters to wake up every day knowing that they are not liked because of their wickedness. Yet they have no desire to correct their ways and in the minimum be right with the law of decency.

that is almost all the Black people in Guyana

mussbe the 'local' extension of your "Blacks are the scourge of the earth" doctrine . . . no?

the late, great Maya Angelou was beyond wise in noting: "when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time"

yesss Ksazma, i took you at your word, first time

and now we are all (further) enlightened

It is not the burden of the world if almost all the Black people in Guyana chose to support a wicked PNC party. If they weren't so racist, they would have used more than just race in their voting practice.

Don’t forget Hoyte dragged out elections from 1990 to 1992.  We dealing with some old gunslingers here.

Even being in the cold for more than two decades wasn't enough to correct the wicked ways of the PNC. God kept the Hebrews in the wilderness for 40 years to cleanse them of their wickedness. It will take much longer to cleanse the wicked PNC of their wickedness.
