Gouveia issues challenge to Freddie Kissoon on Duke Lodge acquisition
- Kissoon could earn $1M if proof is provided of illegality in acquisition

C.E.O of Roraima Airways Inc. Captain Gerry Gouveia has issued a public challenge to discredited academic and Kaieteur News columnist, Freddie Kissoon in which he is promising to relinquish ownership of Duke Lodge should the latter provide tangible evidence of any illegality in the groups acquisition of the said property, among others.
Gouveia, in a letter written and circulated to the media asked that Kissoon provide any 'scintilla' of evidence to challenge the following:

1. That Duke Lodge was put up for public tender in 2007.

2. That the tender was published multiple times in various newspapers.

3. That NICIL hosted a public seminar to brief potential bidders on the bidding process and the details of the technical specifications of the property.

4. That all bidders were notified about the place and time when the tenders would be opened, and were requested to be present.

5. That on the closing date June 29, 2007, nine (9) sealed tenders including one submitted by Roraima Airways Inc. were publicly opened in the presence of a representative from the office of the Auditor General.

6. That Roraima Airways Inc. bid of one hundred and forty million Dollars (GYD$140,000,000.00), was the highest bid, the next highest being one hundred and twenty-two million, five hundred Dollars (GYD$122,500,000.00).

7. That the Government of Guyana/NICIL took in excess of one year to agree to award the tender and release the property to Roraima Airways Inc. on October 23, 2008.

8. That Roraima Airways Inc. paid in full the said bid price, financed by a loan from Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited.

He also said that Should Kissoon provide any evidence of impropriety or lack of transparency (based on fact and not hearsay), he would agree to the following:

1. To return possession of Duke Lodge to the Government of Guyana free of cost, and without any compensation or refund of the purchase price, VAT, legal fees and improvement costs incurred in its acquisition.

2. To give him a gratuity of one million Dollars (GYD$1,000,000.00).

And should Kissoon fail to publish such evidence within twenty-eight days, he should give a promise to do the following:

1. Cease writing of all forms, in all and any form of print, electronic, and cyber media.

2. Publicly apologise to me and the staff of Roraima Airways Inc. in all forms of print, electronic and cyber media.

3. Take a one year leave of absence from teaching at the University of Guyana.

4. Relocate to the beautiful mountains of Monkey Mountain and voluntarily teach the children there for calendar year. I will personally fly him there free of cost, and provide free airlift of supplies, once monthly, for the period.

Gouveia also promised that should his challenge be accepted by Kissoon in order to facilitate documentary audits, he will place all relevant documents in the hands of Mr. Christopher Ram, the CEO of Ram & McRae, his company’s auditors since 1998. And that he also has no objection to NICIL releasing any information concerning the tendering process and sale of Duke Lodge.

Persons have doubted whether Kissoon, who is noted for issuing many such similar challenges will ever be able to take up this particular challenge himself as he is noted for ducking and dodging and even throwing in the irrelevant during exchanges with those whom he oppose.

So what is it going to be now Uncle Freddie? You either put up or SHADDUP! Sorry Freddie, but this is one instance where I believe your quibbling mind, pettiness and vindictive streak would leave you with egg on your face.

Since when people like Gouveia turn PPP. When the PNC ruled Guyana Most portugeese were part of the Guyana society elite.

As a young man Gouveia dated some of the most beautiful black Guyanese girls I have ever seen. Coolie man like me and Mara would be chased out the place by just looking at those girls.

In the 1980s I stood just outside of Albouystown and watch Freddy and other WPA activists being pelted with a shower of large bricks by PNC street thugs. Where was Gouveia then?

I don't care or give a damn about Gouveia and his business. But you must always remember people who help you when you are down. It was Freddy who use to bring Dr Jagan several times to speak to University of Guyana students in the 1980s'when the PNC was in power. The man was putting his job on the line by doing this. Just like how Bookman put his job on the line by putting up Dr. Jagan's picture at the school that he taught.

As TI advised, shut you razz! Freddie, by his own admission is a shaper of public opinion. Now, if those opinions are influenced and shaped by lies and falsities, then he is doing a great disservice to the nation and more so his loyal fans. I don't know much about Gerry Gouveia and his business practice but if lies and misinformation are being pedaled in the public about him, he has all right to defend himself, and his challenge to Freddie seems very fair just as Freddie's public challenge to Kurshid Sattur.

Mara,my point is Freddy has got too much to worry about now. Gouveia has got a right to defend himself. To some extent he must feel hurt particularly if he borrowed the money from Republic bank to buy that old building that he fixed up to look so nice. But I think he should have waited until Freddy recovers before throwing such a challenge out to Freddy.

Gotcha! Don't kick a man in his teeth when he is down & out. Gouveia's counter punch may appear a wee bit opportunistic and sadistic but in his defense, Freddie is no light weight and does possess a mean streak himself. Don't feel sorry for Freddie yet. The Wortmanville hustler makes a living by picking fights and is not easily bullied by anyone. Wink

Many of us including Mara are safe where we are and free to shoot our mouths off. Persons like Freddie Kisson were not afraid to standup for Guyana and brave the odds by living there.

The putagee mafia is doing well in Guyana again. Under the PNC they claimed European status and run away from Guyana, Now they are back doing business as Guynaese.

Ramotar SHOULD GIVE THE MAN BACK HIS BLASTED JOB and at the same time Ramotar should remember when he was in the soviet block countries Freddie Kisson was in the forefront of Burnham politics-teking pelting.

God! Such vindictiveness never seems to cease. When Jagdeo leff, it was expected that we would breathe freely.

Guyana has been and remains a cesspool of political maggots and leeches who thrive on stupidity , ignorance , racism and greed . Bharrat initiated and supported what could have brought lots of money through his hands so some could have trickled down to party leeches. PNC , PPP are all architects of Guyana's demise . The only way to resolve these problems is to have a few encumbent parliamentarians shot at the end of each electoral term. I am no fan of Freddie but with the political megalomaniacs like Cheddi , Burnham , Janet and Bharrat guys like Freddie are necessary to keep these 'leaders' exposed . For those who have memories of convenience Freddie made a significant impact in the 1970s as an anarchist freshman at UG, trying to confront the establishment of "the Dictator Burnham" at a time the PPP had resigned itself to political cowardice with a policy like "Critical Watchfulness". He was a staunch supporter and activist of and for the WPA and Rodney and he did it without fear. He was a columnist for the Catholic Standard , the only independent newspapers in Guyana in the 1970's and 80's and in the 1990's he spoke out against political corruption . During the decade of 2000's he was instrumental in assisting guyanese to break from their pathetic mindset , to question and hold their their PNC and PPP leadership responsible and accountable. Now Freddie is irrelevant ? How many of his critics stood against the political structures like he did ? How many had the balls and guts to stand in his shoes when he challenged EVIL alone ? One does not have to agree with Freddie to respect him one should simply look at the man in the mirror and measure the reflection against Freddie.

Wherefore rejoice? What conquest brings he home?
What tributaries follow him to Rome,
To grace in captive bonds his chariot-wheels?
You blocks, you stones, you worse than senseless things!
O you hard hearts, you cruel men of Rome,
Knew you not Pompey? Many a time and oft
Have you climb'd up to walls and battlements,
To towers and windows, yea, to chimney-tops,
Your infants in your arms, and there have sat
The livelong day, with patient expectation,
To see great Pompey pass the streets of Rome:
And when you saw his chariot but appear,
Have you not made an universal shout,
That Tiber trembled underneath her banks,
To hear the replication of your sounds
Made in her concave shores?
And do you now put on your best attire?
And do you now cull out a holiday?
And do you now strew flowers in his way
That comes in triumph over Pompey's blood? Be gone!
Run to your houses, fall upon your knees,
Pray to the gods to intermit the plague
That needs must light on this ingratitude.
