This is a beautiful song by Tim McGrath. One of the songs I do in my set.

You know there's a light that glows by the front door
Don't forget the keys under the mat
Childhood stars shine
Always stay humble and kind

Go to church cause your mama says to
Visit grandpa every chance that you can
It won't be a waste of time
Always stay humble and kind

Chorus

Hold the door say please say thank you
Don't steal don't cheat and don't lie
I know you got moutains to climb but
Always stay humble and kind

When the dreams you're dreamin come to you
When the work you put in is realized
Let yourself feel the pride but
Always stay humble and kind

Don't expect a free ride from no one
Don't hold a grudge or a chip and here's why
Bitterness keeps you from flying
Always stay humble and kind

Know the difference between sleeping with someone
And sleeping with someone you love
"I love you" ain't no pick up line so
Always stay humble and kind

The little man    Alan Jackson

For the Big Box store shoppers

The little man           Alan Jackson

I remember walkin' 'round the court square sidewalks
Looking in windows at things I couldn't want
There's Johnson's Hardware and Morgan's Jewelry
And the old Lee King's Apothecary
They were the little man
The little man

I go back now and the stores are empty
Except for an old Coke sign dated 1950
Boarded up like they never existed
Or renovated and called historic districts
There goes the little man
There goes the little man

[Chorus]
Now the court square's just a set of streets
That the people go round but they seldom think
About the little man that built this town
Before the big money shut them down
And killed the little man
Oh, the little man

He pumped your gas and he cleaned your glass
And one cold rainy night he fixed your flat
The new stores came where you do it yourself
You buy a lotto ticket and food off the shelf
Forget the little man
Forget about that little man

He hung on there for a few more years
But he couldn't sell Slurpees
And he wouldn't sell beer
Now the bank rents the station
To a man down the road
And they sell Velvet Elvis and
Second-hand clothes
There goes little man
There goes another little man  r The Record[Chorus]

Now the stores are lined up in a concrete strip
You can buy the whole world in just one trip
And save a penny because it's jumbo size
They don't even realize
They're killing the little man
Oh the little man      [Chorus]

It wasn't long ago when I was a child
An old black man came with his mule and his plow
He broke the ground where we grew our garden
Back before we'd all forgotten
About the little man
The little man
Long live the little man
God bless the little man

I always listen to the words. Last night I saw a movie, Love Actually. A Joni Mitchell song was on it. It was at a slow pace, it stopped me. And I reflected on the element of Love in my life. It made me sad. Love is like a vagabond, it goes everywhere.

I never heard that rendition, it's pretty good. I have it on..ahem..cassette by Neil Diamond.

Another song that has good words done by Alan Jackson "Remember when" you' like that I'm sure.

Another that I played in church awhile back, "Here I am Lord" dam I'm gettin soft in my ole days...gotta get back into some AC/DC tunes.
