As for the hate preacing, thats a different story, this is a matter of civil liberties. The president should not have the right to assassinate an American, and I find that you of all people supporting such an action ironc, based on your previous posts.

I personally think the man was killed for his oratory skills and was of no signficant military threat.

Oh, I don't support that someone should be killed because they preach hate no matter how stupid it is. Awlaki was suspected of terrorism connection. That is what put him on the wanted list not his oratory skills and in that case, I don't have a problem with the government's actions. Now was it the best approach? Maybe not but it was probably the best availanle one.

This is the problem in the world. Too many side shows and not enough honesty.

Again, suspected of and no proof does not satisfy the rule of law.

But being a fugitive of the law allows for other approaches.

Abu bhai, these guys aren't looking out for you and I when they choose that route for their protest. That is not the way of our dear Prophet.

Did I ever say the man is looking out for me?

I am talking about an extra judicial murder which can happen to any one of us that the government don't like.

Who will they go after next, the folks on wall street who are protesting corporate greed?

When will it end.

Come on SM, get off the po. These guys dont represent the majority and infact many moderate muslims would be their target as much as non-believers.

Wow, that ought to give everyone food for thought.

The world is now governed by a bunch of terrorists Smile

Abu, I would not be so negative. I do think though the world's agenda has been hijacked by terrorists since 9/11 resulting in major dislocation of resources, dilution of everyone's rights, major disruption and inconvenience and not to mention added costs across the entire spectrum. For thios reason, we need to eliminate them and at the same time address the conditions which allow them to trive.

Any proposals as to what we should do about BAE Systems, and the government of Saudi Arabia? They still trivin'.

Why disrupt a trivin enterprise Smile

"Awlaki was obviously in the camp (metaphorically and then literally) of our mortal enemies. If propagandizing on behalf of a mortal enemy were enough to justify the assassination of a U.S. citizen, then we would have shot half the faculty of Harvard and 93.8 percent of the Motion Picture Academy a few decades back. But this is wartime, the argument goes. So was Korea, Vietnam, and much of the second half of the 20th century, but we managed to get through it without ordering the assassination of I. F. Stone, and his beloved Soviets were a far greater threat to this nation than is al-Qaeda."

It is mostly private people who act out based on their likes and dislikes. The government is much fairer in their actions. Take for instance that someone approaches you and tries to entrap you into something illegal. Waht you should do is tell that person to guh dahside. You tell them that you are not interested in their nonsense. Many people get trapped because they are weak in their judgement and may allow their emotions to take over. parents of the young has to play a role in educating their kids that violence is not the answer. I am not saying that they are wutliss. They may just be complacent but that complacency can cost their kids their freedom and even life. Our kids are encourage to not have secrets and that makes us feel comfortable that they will not fall prey to people wutlissness. Liek if the Preiest tells the young boy that this is their secret and not to tell anyone. Or a predator telling little kids that this is their secret. If we stay out of trouble we have a very good chance of not being bothered by the government. I understand that it is not foolproof but it is the right thing to do. Awlaki chose the other option and paid the price for it. The question is how many paid a price for his choice?

Let's take another example. Do you think that Walter Rodney "made the wrong choice" and therefore wound up dead? Maybe society would be more secure if we eliminate freedom of speech altogether, but there is a downside.

How deep into the pit do you dig to make a case. What kind of stretch is this to insult the memory of Dr WR by using it with terrorist al-Awlaki. Dr WR was assassinated for seeking political justice in Guyana, he was not sending terrorist and bombs to blow up innocent people around the world. He was not talking about anything except Guyana, though he was critical of certain external factors. Henry, recalibrate and start over, you off on the deep end now.

Walter Rodney was not planting bombs to injure women, children and innocent civilians he was a man of words who inspired people.

Al riki tiki was actively brain washing people to go do "jihad" a bastardized meaning of the word. There was no question he as in hate speech, this is not what Walter Rodney was.

Henry whilst in the ivory tower you must do some more reading before making these ridiculous comparisons.
J
UNCLE Henry we can put our heads in the sand for as long as we want, but the US government has 2 witnesses and testimony from you know who, that admitted to the Waddell hit.

What more evidence you want? the evidence is right there and you and Jagdeo and Ramotar can dodge and obfuscate all you want. It is clear as day in a fair court not biased by anyone.

Wake up!
J
