Indeed it is a fight against a truth, an ugly truth of the worse in an administration; a corrupt, autocratic pompous and morally destitute entity.

That its use of patronage and ethnic nepotism as tools of compliance is not surprising. No one is astonished that they will get at least 3% of the african population. These are in fear of their loss of a place in the soup line.

That Indians in general will tumble over themselves for the PPP is also understood. They represent a conditioned group think wrought of two factors. They love to live in the reflected glow of success of kind and fear if not loathe the PNC and its black supporters with a morbid passion. It will take more than reason to overcome such willful ignorance. They will not be moved by facts but by their conditioned compulsions.

From my perspective, it is not the Indian sheep that the AFC counts on from the PPP block or the black sheep that will likewise gravitate zombie-like to the PNC in its new incarnation. The Plan is to wake them up to look after their own concerns later. Alas, the Afc is their therapy of last resort and they do not know it yet.

The AFC wants the young with their mind free of the prodding of bigotry and using their reasoning to grasp they are in the tendrils of a parasitic organism called the PPP. There are over 120, 000 of them from, mostly first time voters and will can be the agents to rid us of that pestilence of corruption, nepotism and unrestrained greed that is the PPP. Have at the large turnout if you will. The world has always been bountiful with sheep like mediocrity from among the masses. Change comes from movement of the courageous few taking the middle ground and the AFC fall back is always to kneecap the PPP. They need to be hobbled to change. Welcome to morning in Guyana.

This was the perfect election for the AFC to do well. The PNC is dying and many/most of their support base has moved on. Even many PPP supporters are now looking at teh PPP with disgust.

30,000 registered voters have yet to pick up their cards. I am willing to bet most of these will be urban voters, or from the black villages. This represents 8% of the rolls. Willing to bet teh PPP ensured their supporters have their cards ready. Its not their fault if the PNC and the AFC are too sleepy to do the same.



So with all of this if the AFc couldnt make their mark its a result of laziness in the first four years and faulty campaign strategy over the last year.

The AFc has to convince people that they have teh capacity to beat these two parties, and if they win, the ability to govern. It doesnt appear as if they have, based on their empty meetings.

All expect a low turnout. Sorry this is not like 2001 when 85% of the registered voters turned out like zombies to vote race. Now many will not vote feeling that none of the parties will mean any difference in their lives. And the opposition lacks teh abil;ity to match the PPP in its ability to campaign, hence their defeat being certain.

No party is entitled to a vote just because they are there. they have to go and convince voters that they will make a difference in their lives. Certainly one which only won 8% last time is under even more pressure to prove itself.

Regardless of the election results, the AFC needs to re-organise and be focused on the future, if it indeed wants to be a true tangible force in the future.

However, the PPP/C is still the best of the rest.

The PPP/C will win the 2011 elections.

The PPP will win because the others are lousy campaigners. The PPP is incompetent, racist, corrupt and now increasingly dictatorial with your president just about making death threats against the private media.

I fear for Guyana. Just as how the PNC started out well but emnded badly I foresee the same for the PPP.

If the turnout is low this will be as much an indictment of the PPP as it is of the AFC and the PNC.

Five parties won parliamentary seats in the last elections. The PPP grabbed more than half. From what I gathered from friends and family in Guyana is that the people of Guyana have not been showing much interest in following another party. We don't have severe crisis situation the Buxton Crisis or the Harsh economic crisis in the PNC years to really push people to seek answers in other parties or movement.

Not everyone is interested. The AFC is a new kid on the block with a major influence by PNC background. Trotman is a great guy. I met him a couple of time and I am impressed with him, but his PNC past is his downfall. He should have left the PNC a very long time ago. He is definitely Presidential material, but not now. He needs to develop more, working with the ordinary people, not only the Georgetown classy boys.
Ramjattan will not make it. Too complacent; not much to say; more internally driven and typically lawyer stoicism.
ACF can have a chance in the future, though effective growth in the party.
But not everyone is interested in AFC.
