AFC will cut the navel string of corruption – Foulis meeting told
By Stabroek staff.
Sunday, November 20, 2011

It cost taxpayers $200 million to move NCN’s transmission tower from Sparendaam to the West Demerara to make way for the development of the elite housing development, ‘Pradoville 2’ says former advisor to President Bharrat Jagdeo, Rajendra Bisessar.

Bisessar, who is now with the Alliance for Change (AFC), in a stinging attack last evening charged that the PPP has become corrupt and told a sparsely attended AFC meeting at Foulis, East Coast Demerara that “it is no longer the PPP that you know.” He said that Jagdeo wanted the land at Sparendaam and the cost of removing the transmission tower was over $200 million.

Bisessar continued that the land was a sea defence reserve and those building there, including ministers and several top officials of various agencies had not received permission to build. He noted too the regulations relating to the acquisition of house lots were not adhered to by the President.

He said that he left the PPP because of corruption and cited several examples. He also said that officials are getting kickbacks from contractors.

He told the meeting that “the PPP is no longer the PPP that you know” and said that some have left because they were marginalized. In relation to former PPP minister and central executive committee member, Moses Nagamootoo‘s departure from the party, he said that the PPP had lost its “heart.”

Bisessar spoke of plans the AFC has for the country and appealed for support. “We will cut the corruption,” he said. “Cut that navel string. Save ourselves, save our children,” he appealed.

Apart from party officials, less than a dozen adults attended the meeting though a few could be seen listening from afar. A party official said during a walkabout, they had received support but persons were afraid to come out. Speakers stressed that there was no conspiracy or plans to link with the opposition as stated by the PPP.

It was pointed out that any coalition would have had to happen before Election Day.

Meanwhile, AFC Member of Parliament, Latchmin Punalall spoke on the situation with regard to women and children and outlined the AFC’s plans for the vulnerable groups. “Our children are being abused in this nation and no one is paying any attention to them,” she said.

Another speaker, Dr Sewnauth Punalall spoke of the plans for diversifying the Guyana Sugar Corporation to make it successful. He said that molasses can be used in several ways while Guyana can be an ethanol producing country. “We will do our best at improving GuySuCo. We cannot develop this country without developing GuySuCo,” he said

It is not the type of topic which will attract crowds however, you could be grossly mistaken if you think the people do not care. The people are now swamped with issues of corruption and abuse of piwer and rape of national assets and they will just vote the bastards out rather than nit-pick issues after issue.

Moses was corrupt. If the PPP is corrupt, that was the party Moses craved to lead. But Moses does not have what it takes to become a leader. He is a sore Loser and all those who had wanted to become Mnisters and did not get succeed.
Ask those who did not get government contracts how they feel..

If honestly equals losers then I'd rather be a loser than be sent to a US jail for running a narco state.

How long before the US swoops in and pluck Jagdeo from his mansion and he occupies Noriega's cell? Lets count the days.

I think you should give up politics and become a steel band player. You will get an audience that way even if its a captive one.

On the 28Th the People will vote the PPP into office again. Where it is a majority or minority government, it will be a PPP one.

The AFC will be left out of the bargaining table. Seven PNC members will always vote along with the PPP.

People will not run because the ppp is in power, they will run when they can't make a living and economic conditions are dire or there is human rights violations. The conditions in Guyana is sound, economically. You have nations rushing to give aid and other soft loans because they have confidence in the govt and the economy. The ppp did make quite a few blunders, especially with the Skeldon plant and corruption. However overall they keep the country forging ahead. The AFC want to take the nation back to the dark ages.

The PPP is in power now for 19 years. Druggie between 2000 and 2008 80,000 Guyanes emigrated to the USA. This is inaddition to the tens of thousands in Canada, and Venezuela, and the Caribbean.

Some so desperate that they end up as SLAVES!!!!!

Why is it that PPP supporters discovered Barbados after Jagdeo took over. Before that it was mainly black Guyanese who went there and who got in thru their Bajan connections.
