Anna Regina woman stabbed to death

-husband in hospital after reportedly taking poison

An Anna Regina mother of three died last night after she was allegedly stabbed  by her reputed husband who has been hospitalized after reportedly attempting to take his own life.

Dead is 39-year-old Farida Khayum.

Stabroek News understands that the incident occurred around 10:30 pm yesterday at Anna Regina.

The suspect, who has been identified as Daveanand Narine, a miner reportedly ingested a poisonous substance afterwards.

They were both rushed to a nearby hospital where Khayum was pronounced dead on arrival and Narine was admitted as a patient under guard.

While details remain sketchy, Stabroek News was informed that the couple was involved in a heated argument during which Narine allegedly armed himself with a knife and stabbed Khayum.

Narine then went into a room where he allegedly ingested poison.

Where are the charities that are collecting people money for domestic violence?

What difference would a charity have made in this case?

She calls them, they run over and try to wrestle the knife away, yeahhh, clap clap, story done?

Cain, I wrote a long piece regarding this topic, but deleted it. Because its challenging to understand from which end some posters are speaking.

Animosity and its consequences.

Greed seems to have taken over Guyana.

A lawyer in an NGO committee used committee inside information to buy a property for himself, that was going to be a counselling/community centre for youth.

Suicide, alcoholism and spousal abuse, often related, are national problems in Guyana that require national attention.

I dont understand how a lawyer can use NGO information to buy a property and this story just fizzled out.

I recall that you seem to be a person very much interested in contributing to this problem in Guyana. You should have exposed this impropriety.

Vish, it is easier to take legal action when a person lives overseas. But in Guyana a person needs to read the atmosphere of their surroundings and know their place, because it could have personal dangers.

This lawyer  has strong political connections and was recently in the news with dual citizenship.

Guyana is not a place where some seems to have compassion, but they look for an opportunity to take advantage of others. Even take advantage of young persons, thus the anger of many youth in Guyana.

Your first paragraph is the reality in Guyana, but governments don't make an effort to coordinate NGOs to collaborate efforts for the common good. So most NGOs do piece meal work, uncoordinated that is fragment and might duplicate efforts.

One NGO tried to have  a national NGO conference in Georgetown, but some NGOs don't want to share their successful efforts with others and the program failed.

Since 1972, a Canadian NGO  was formulated to coordinate NGOs across Canada, so work is not duplicated in developing countries. They all meet nationally to share ideas regarding what work well in other countries, but in GY some feel others might steal their ideas.

This whole thing pisses me off royally, because we see how efforts can improve lives in some countries.  But I have come to realize that we cant change the world single handed.

Did you read all the term papers he has been writing here?

I know better. You don't take a professional student seriously. I know a guy from Trinidad who was always attending the University of Minnesota. He was there attending classes for about 15 years. The guys started calling him professor. Not sure if he is still there. He was a real conman and a liar.
