The body of a 70-year-old man was found sprawled on the stairway of the Gaumont Hotel in High Street, Georgetown on Monday afternoon. The man has been identified as Frederick Thomas of Friendship, East Coast Demerara.

According to a police report, the man’s body was found with a stab wound to the chest on the stairway of the hotel just around 2 O’ clock in the afternoon.

He was taken to the Georgetown Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police investigators have since taken three women and two men into custody to assist with the investigations.

The Gaumont Hotel is one of Georgetown’s oldest hotels best known as a hide out for prostitution.
