Man charged with second-degree murder in Mont Pleasant homicide
SCHENECTADY — A man has been charged in connection with the death of a Maplewood Avenue resident late Wednesday.
Budhnarain Kadar, 41, was charged with second-degree murder for the death of Marian Singh after being taken into custody Friday, city police said.
The arrest came after an investigation by city police, with assistance by the U.S. Marshal’s New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Kadar will be arraigned Saturday in City Court.
Police did not immediately respond for comment late Friday on the cause of death or Kadar’s relationship with the victim.
Neighbors recalled Singh was commonly seen at the residence with a man and a child believed to be their daughter.
Authorities declared the death of Singh, 35, a homicide, citing preliminary autopsy results, which have not been released.
Singh also went by the name Marian Loftis.
The homicide marks the second in Schenectady this year.
Roscoe Foster was shot to death in January at the intersection of Becker and Linden streets. Police have not yet made an arrest in connection with that slaying.
