Nagamootoo is โ€œroyaltyโ€ and the โ€œbest Prime Ministerโ€ โ€“ says Harmon

Moses Nagamootoo

Chairman of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), Joseph Harmon on Tuesday declared that Moses Nagamootoo is โ€œthe best prime ministerโ€, days after the Alliance For Change (AFC) overwhelmingly endorsed party leader , Khemraj Ramjattan to be President Grangerโ€™s number two man.

Addressing a government outreach at Bartica, Harmon described Nagamootoo as โ€œroyaltyโ€ and went on to laud him. โ€œThe best Prime Minister we have had in this country for the last twenty-seven years, Moses Nagamootoo,โ€ he said to sustained applause.

โ€œI donโ€™t care where you bring any other body from before him, that is the best Prime Minister we have had for the last twenty-seven years and we are proud of our prime minister, we are proud of our coalition partners and we are proud of the process which produces our leaders in our coalition,โ€ he said.

Preceding Nagamootoo was Samuel Hinds who had been Prime Minister for most of the period 1992 โ€“ 2015.

AFC General Secretary, David Patterson is already on record as saying that his party would be sticking with Ramjattan.

Internally, a number of party members believed that  Nagamootoo has done very little to help ordinary people during his now four years in office and as constitutionally the Presidentโ€™s principal assistant. Outside the AFC, unofficial statistics show so far that 74 percent of 1,500 persons support Nagamootoo over Ramjattan to be Grangerโ€™s  running mate.

Speaking after Harmon, Prime Minister Nagamootoo told the gathering that โ€œBartica ainโ€™t gone yetโ€. โ€œIโ€™m going to send a message to those who are peddling the slimes  โ€˜Naga goneโ€™ and then he burst into song: โ€œMoses ainโ€™t get weary yet, he ainโ€™t weary yet, he been in the struggle so long that he ainโ€™t get weary yetโ€ after which he said โ€œThank you very much, you have sent an appropriate messageโ€.

Touching on the need for house-to-house registration before the next general elections, he remarked that he had changed from his white shirt-jac to an olive green shirt to signal that he was engaged in a revolutionary process to defend democracy. โ€œI am back in battle gear. I am back in the battle and this is a fight that will not be surrendered by me even though I am two years short of sixty years in political life. I ainโ€™t weary yet.โ€

Harmon, who is also a member of the Peopleโ€™s National Congress Reform, added that there is no other person capable of matching David Granger as the President of Guyana.

Nagamootoo on May 29, 2019 suggested that he would be Grangerโ€™s running mate. โ€œPresident David Granger and I are looking at the possibility of abolishing fees at the University of Guyana in our second term in office,โ€ he said.

Then AFC Leader, now Chairman, Raphael Trotman had publicly opposed Ramjattan being the prime ministerial candidate on the grounds that to change him would be to send a  wrong signal to the populace that the opposition was right that the Granger-Nagamootoo combination had failed Guyana.

There is no constitutional requirement for a prime ministerial candidate.

There is a catch, if my suspicions are correct, we will find out later.

Whats the catch?

Either way...Moses or Ramjattan...the AFC digging a deeper hole for itself...they are unlikely to bring in votes for the coalition.

Will hold off on that.

Don't underestimate the AFC, they had a large turnout at the recent 2019 Congress.

That large turnout was there because the party was electing a future leader..a large turnout at the Congress does not translate into electoral votes.

Me thinks there is a thread on GNI, why Naga left the PPP, just want to hear if you know some things different. Memory intact to date, the day it's lost, will quit GNI.

Cde Nagamootoo has been the champion for all workers all his life.  He must continue into the new government after 2020.  Cde Granger and cde Nagamootoo are the right leaders for Guyana.   There is none other.

Moses is a traitor to sugar workers. He told the Sugar workers they should be greatful APNU/ AFC has โ€œ raidedโ€ the treasury on their behalf.

There is an annual subvention Of Billions Of dollars to Linden for electricity.

In 2012 Moses told Linderers, the Government has an obligation to them and the country  owed Lindeners that subvention.

A subvention to Guysuco is raiding the treasury but itโ€™s a obligation to Linden .. no

he also betrayed the teachers, a profession his wife was part of.

He is nothing but a SHAMELESS SOB.
