Woman charged for alleged attempt to kill Cop further remanded

Twenty-five-year-old, Maryanne Daby of Lot 127 D’Aguiar Park, Houston, Greater Georgetown, who was slapped with an attempted murder charge after she allegedly pointed a gun at a Police Officer and pulled the trigger, was today (Wednesday), further remanded to prison when she appeared before the Chief Magistrate.

Accused: Maryann Daby

Attorney for the accused, Mark Waldron made a lengthy bail application for his client revealing that a possession of firearm and ammunition charge, while being unlicensed for same brought against her, should be dismissed since she is licenced.

The said licence provided to the Court has expired, however Waldron noted that Daby is still within the stipulated period to have same renewed.

He further brought the Court’s attention to the outstanding ballistic report which he noted will take time to be provided by the Prosecution.

However, the Police Prosecutor maintained the Prosecution’s objections as a result of the seriousness of the offence.

Magistrate Ann McLennan told the defendant that she is remanded to prison with regard to public safety and was ordered to return to Court on May 30 2018.

Daby was reportedly firing shots in the air while partying at a racing club when she was approached by Christopher Kissoon, an off duty Officer and commanded to stop.

However, according to the Prosecutor, the irritated young woman took the said pistol and pointed it to the officer’s head and pulled the trigger. The prosecutor informed the Court that the gun jammed and did not discharge.

She was later arrested at her home and charged.

What went through her mind to point a gun at a police officer and pull the trigger? If the gun wasn't jamed, he would have been dead. Lord have mercy. People are living dangerously in Guyana.

She was trigger sexciting. Her application was in process for a 9 mm, so she was showing off her last few days with the .32

I believe the bar was upstairs of Alpohnso's. Back in the eighties, my boss told me that he and I should go vote. I told him I voted already. He said, let's go vote again". I realized that all he wanted was a ride to this bar. When we got there, it was still unopened because it was about 10AM. I told him it was too early for them to be opened. He said they will open for him. They did opened it for him and he drank there for about an hour before we went back to the office. That guy was a very good accountant but unfortunately, he drank his way to the grave.

The bar was above King Jewellry Store which is next door to Alphonso Record Bar,me thinks the name was Kiskadee,it was one of our watering hole in the late 70's to mid 80's.

The owner at the time was a young fella,i saw you mentioned Mukesh.I can recall someone by that name was the owner, currently he should be in his 60's.

Yup,Paul brother ( Mukesh) was the original owner until he start his importation of cosmetics, the restaurant business was pass on to Paul.

Mukesh is 58. He’s the owner of Grand costal hotel on the ECD. That place used  to be his primary residence until he  makes it the hotel.

Correct Kiskadee is the restaurant name.
