Shaquille Wilburg, the Buxton man charged last year with robbing a man of over $3,000,000, yesterday changed his plea to guilty and was sentenced to four years in prison.

Wilburg admitted that on October 13th, 2017, at Brickdam Road, in the company of others and armed with a gun, he robbed Lethem Wilson of $3 million in cash, a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, valued at $180,000, and a Samsung Galaxy S6, valued at $140,000.

The police’s case was that on the day in question, Wilson was in the vicinity of the National Insurance Scheme on Brickdam, where the accused held him at gun-point and relieved him of the cash and phones. The attack was recorded by CCTV cameras and Wilburg was subsequently positively identified by the complainant during an identification parade.

Wilburg appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh and changed his plea to guilty and apologised to the court for his actions.

The magistrate then considered his early guilty plea and the time he spent on remand for the offence before sentencing him to four years in prison.
