PPP profoundly saddened by the passing of Ally Baksh

The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) is deeply saddened over the passing of its former Executive and longstanding Member and Minister within the Ministry of Agriculture, Comrade Ally Baksh after a brief illness . He has given years of yeoman service to the Party and his selfless efforts in the struggle to return freedom to Guyana remains a hallmark of his long and distinguished political career.

Hailing from Essequibo, Comrade Baksh served loyally in various capacities within the PPP including Party Supervisor and Member of the Central and Executive Committees. He dedicatedly served Region 2 for many years and during his tenure as Regional Chairman he worked assiduously to help improve the lives of residents through the development of the social and physical infrastructures.

From November 2011 to May 2015, he dedicatedly executed the duties as Minister within the Ministry of Agriculture vastly assisting in the delivering the mandate of the PPP Civic government of providing better environment for all Guyanese farmers and increased markets for their produce. His knowledge of what was needed in the communities was a valuable asset in his service to the country.

The PPP is grateful that Comrade Baksh was part of its structure and for his invaluable contribution to the development of the Party and Guyana. He will be profoundly missed.

Our Party and its General Secretary would like to extend deepest condolences to his immediate family, relatives and friends following his demise.

My condolence to Ali Baksh's family. We were party comrades way back. In August 1969 when I visited the Essequibo Coast for the first time I was pleased to see a branch of Michael Forde Bookshop in Ali Baksh's father's bottom house. That's a stalwart PPP family.

Thanks to Django for posting.

I will always admire those men and women who stayed back in Guyana and struggled for a better Guyana for all of its people. They sacrificed their own happiness to make life better for the rest of us. I could not make such sacrifice. I contributed in my own little ways but I just couldn't do what men like Ali Baksh did. They may have made mistakes but what they worked towards a better tomorrow for us all.

May his soul find peace and harmony in the heavens.

My condolences to his family.
