I know.  redirecting funds to the regional hospitals, which were neglected by the PPP is a fine example of how they copy the PPP.

Did APNU/AFC say that they were going to move ahead with Amaila Falls? You will admit that the PPP really messed up that project with the millions wasted on a man whose only qualification was that he is an Indian.  Fip Motilall should be made to refund moneys paid to him.

Looks like you trying to defend the indefensible. If you agree with these projects then it means that you have to acknowledge that afc/apnu have no vision as they now stoop to carrying on PPP projects that they criticized and blocked in parliament for years.  I have been saying this for the longest time, these bunch of crooks now in office are vision less.

DG, why don't you open a thread to track the new development ideas by the afc/apnu, so far it is zero. They even abandoned the ethanol dream as well as other value added initiatives they were promising during the campaign.

Excellent that you revived the thread DG. Let us try to keep this thread clean folks and only post new development or lack of under the PNC/AFC.  Keep your complaining and running to admin elsewhere. Remember we are all rooting for development in Guyana regardless of who is ruling.

Correct DrugB.

While we indeed do have varied views on political issues, we all want to see developments in Guyana irrespective of who are in the government.

In other words ... Guyana first.

Omai Gold Mine project is not a new one.

It is redevelopment of the project since the waste issues from 1995 and shut down in 2005.

More than a decade after Guyana’s biggest gold mine shut its operations; commercial activities are again being touted for the mineral-rich area.
Yesterday, Canadian-owned, Mahdia Gold Corporation (Guyana), Inc. announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the issuance of a new Prospecting Licence for the Omai Gold Mine Site, Potaro, Essequibo River.

“The Prospecting License will facilitate the Company’s next phase of development. The company has agreed to pay the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (“GGMC”) a total of US$4M over four annual payments,” the company said.

The Omai Gold Mine was the largest gold mine in South America when opened. The mine was previously operated by Cambior Resources and subsequently IAMGOLD. During its thirteen years in operation, the mine produced 3.7 million ounces of gold. Historic data suggest a multimillion-ounce resource remains, Mahdia Gold said.

i was thinking about the same thing last week - what new projects this gov't have implemented since taking office.  I can't think of anything positive. All we are witnessing is a government playing all sorts of political games to keep itself in power at any costs.

Django and Cain are working hard in getting APNU supporters in Brooklyn to go back and invest. I'm still waiting to see the droves of happy faces at CBJ returning home to help build this land that supposedly belongs to WE.

While indeed a new facility, it was built by volunteers hence it is not a development / project by the PNCR/AFC government.

Pensioners get new waiting and toilet facilities at Reliance Post Office

Nov 08, 2017 News, https://www.kaieteurnewsonline...iance-post-office-2/

Pictures of the shed with seating accommodation and the toilet facilities at the Reliance Post Office, East Canje

Pensioners using the Reliance Post Office in East Canje each month to collect their pensions will now have some relief. They will no longer have to wait in the sun or rain or in a dilapidated bus shed across the road.

When they need to relieve themselves, they no longer have to run by a lamp post or by the grass corner or by neighbours who would allow them to use their toilet or bathroom facilities.

Through the kind courtesy of the East Canje Humanitarian Organisation (ECHO) a brand new shed with seating accommodation and toilet facilities has been constructed in the compound of the Post Office.

The facility was built with funds garnered from members of the community. ECHO which has only women in its membership is a Non-Governmental, non-political Organisation with headquarters in the lower East Canje area. It is involved in a number of humanitarian ventures directed at the elderly, children and the less fortunate.

They acquire most of their funds through donation.

They are waiting for Chinese to build the factory, don't have required skills in Guyana.

Though new works, this was started by the PPP/C administration.

Hence, it is not a new item by the PNCR/AFC.

West Dem. road extension in final stages – Project Manager

Dec 10, 2017 News, https://www.kaieteurnewsonline...ges-project-manager/

he West Coast Demerara road expansion project is in its final stages, with almost 98 % of the work complete. An official attached to the project confirmed Friday that the US$46.8M West Coast Demerara Project has been given a March 2018 deadline.

Kaieteur News understands that at present the widening of the public road is taking place at Vreed-en-Hoop.

According to Project Manager attached to local contractor BK International, Vyalje Persaud, the road works are concentrated at Vreed-en-Hoop area because the goal is to complete the extension there, before the busy holiday period begins.

“We have a new deadline, but the main focus at present is putting in the finishing touches like the markings on the roads.  We don’t want the work to collide with the Christmas traffic.”

Persaud admitted that there were challenges in the process of widening the West Coast Demerara Main Access Road. He noted that the inclement weather has been one factor that contributed to a holdup.

The expansion of the highway is being conducted at several villages along the West Coast including Vreed-en-Hoop, Anna Catherina, De Willem and Uitvlugt.

Since the commencement of the project in 2015, much scrutiny had followed, particularly about a foreign company’s involvement in the undertaking.

The Jamaica Construction Firm, Surrey Paving and Aggregate Company (SPA) Limited, for the first time, had tendered and won a contract for a project in Guyana. The company subsequently formed a joint venture with local construction company, BK International.

BK International on the other hand, was not qualified to carry out the works by itself thus, the joint venture enabled the company to take part in the project. Together, both companies qualified for a specific component of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB)-funded Project.

Former Minister of Public Works, Robeson Benn, under whose tenure the project received the green light, had explained in 2014, that the Government of the Guyana and Caribbean Development Bank on February 25, 2013, signed a Loan Agreement and a Grant Agreement totalling US$34,2M and US$200,000 respectively.

The component entailed the improvement of approximately 30.7 km of the West Coast Demerara Road from Vreed-en-Hoop to Hydronie. It included pavement rehabilitation, road widening for the separation of pedestrians and cyclists from motorised traffic, installation of traffic signs and road markings, provision of additional highway lights, extension and repairs to culverts and relocation of the utilities.
