NY gov orders WTC tower lit to honor same-sex marriage decision

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered the spire of One World Trade Center to be lit in the rainbow colors associated with the gay movement, following the Supreme Court's ruling that same-sex couples have a right to marry.

"New York has been a leader in the fight for marriage equality, and today's Supreme Court decision affirms what we have fought so hard for - that marriage is a fundamental right that should be afforded to everyone, regardless of whom they love," Cuomo said in a statement.

New York passed its own law permitting gay marriage in 2011, but the nation's highest court ruled Friday in a 5-4 decision that the right is a matter of the Constitution, and not simply state law.

When regulations and other laws differ with the Constitution, in this case State laws, the Constitution always takes precedent.

5 judges voted for and 4 judges were against, so essentially 1 vote usurped the vote of 300 million Americans.

Dude doan betray your ignorance. Take a basic constitutional law class. This 34 page decision clearly calls upon the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment and the due process clause. Basically equality means equality. From that basis marriage laws cannot arbitrarily discriminate.
