Unvaccinated female, 18, among two more COVID deaths

The Ministry of Health yesterday said that as of October 18, 2021, two more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 877.

The latest deaths are those of a female. 18, of Region 10 who was unvaccinated and a partially vaccinated man, 50, also of Region 10.

Meanwhile, 94 new cases of the virus were reported yesterday. Twenty-three persons are in the ICU.

Four more die from COVID, 118 new cases recorded

The Ministry of Health yesterday stated that four more persons have died as a result of the novel coronavirus.

This now takes the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 881. Further,  118 new cases of the virus were recorded. Some 23 persons are currently patients at the COVID-19 ICU.

Over 650,000 doses of COVID vaccines have been administered

Since February this year when vaccination against the COVID-19 virus began, the Ministry of Health has administered over 650,000 doses.

According to the Ministry’s Facebook page, 375,640 adults have received a first dose of one of the various COVID vaccines on offer and 235,081 of these persons have received a second dose. Since vaccination of adolescents began, 26,683 of them have received a first dose and 16,991 of them have received a second dose. This gives a grand total of 654,395.

The total number of doses administered to adults so far is 610,721. It is believed that relative safety from the virus will be achieved when around 500,000 persons are fully vaccinated, meaning around 1,000,000 doses administered.

Fully vaccinated man, 91, dies from COVID

The Ministry of Health yesterday said that as of October 23, 2021, one more person who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 895.

The latest fatality was a fully vaccinated 91-year-old from Region Four who passed away on October 24.

Meanwhile, the ministry yesterday reported that there were 90 new cases of the virus. Nineteen persons are in the ICU.

Two unvaccinated men die from COVID

The Ministry of Health (MOH) today said that as October 24, 2021, two more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 897.

The latest victims are two men: an 80-year-old from Region Three and a 66-year-old from Region Two. Both were unvaccinated.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health in a press release which noted that the country’s total deaths increased to 904. The new cases that were reported came after some 1,249 tests were done. There are now 2,902 active cases.

Two more COVID-19 deaths, 81 new cases recorded

The Health Ministry on Wednesday reported two more COVID-19 deaths along with 81 new cases of the virus.

In a statement, the ministry confirmed the deaths of an 83-year-old man from Region One and an 80-year-old woman from Region Four, who both died on Monday.  The man was fully vaccinated while the woman was unvaccinated.

With the new deaths, the first two recorded for the month, the country’s total number of deaths from the pandemic increased to 928.

Meanwhile, the ministry’s COVID-19 dashboard showed that the new infections were confirmed from 1,172 tests that were done. New cases were recorded in all regions save for Region Nine.

Eight more with COVID-19 succumb

Guyana recorded eight more COVID-19 deaths between last Wednesday and Saturday, the Health Ministry reported on Saturday.

In a statement, the ministry identified the fatalities as four men and four women, from regions Two, Four, Five, Six, Seven and Ten. They ranged in age from 29 to 90. Eight of them were unvaccinated while the remaining person was fully vaccinated.

The ministry said the patients were admitted with COVID-19-like symptoms but died while receiving care at state institutions. Samples were taken at the time of admission and subsequently returned positive tests.

With the deaths, the death toll from the pandemic increased to 941.Meanwhile, the ministry’s updated COVID-19 dashboard showed 86 new cases being confirmed from 1,606 tests. It also showed that there were 10 persons in the COVID-19 ICU, 64 persons in institutional isolation and 2,472 in home isolation.

Three unvaccinated Region Four women die from COVID

Three unvaccinated women are the country’s latest COVID-19 fatalities.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health in a press release which noted that the country’s total deaths increased to 968. Further the ministry’s dashboard noted that 91 new cases of the virus were recorded and these came after some 2,352 more tests were done.

There are now 1,900 active cases of which 16  are currently in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.

Three more unvaccinated persons with COVID succumb

The Ministry of Health has confirmed the deaths of three more persons who tested positive for COVID-19.

With the latest fatalities, which were all recorded on Friday, the ministry said the total number of deaths from the pandemic in Guyana stood at 971.

The latest fatalities were identified as an unvaccinated man, 27, of Region Four and two unvaccinated women, a 66-year-old from Region Four and a 53-year-old from Region Three.

Meanwhile, the ministry’s updated COVID-19 dashboard showed 94 new cases being recorded from 1, 252 tests. All regions recorded new cases except for regions One and Two. The dashboard also showed 13 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 1818 persons in home isolation, and 60 persons in institutional isolation.

The Ministry of Health on Saturday confirmed the death of a Region Four man who tested positive for COVID-19.

The Health Ministry in a statement reported that the 77-year-old man, who was partially vaccinated, died on Friday.

His death brings the total number of persons who have succumbed with the virus in Guyana to 972.

One new COVID-19 death was yesterday reported along with 31 new cases of the virus.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health in a press release which stated that the country’s total deaths increased to 977. The 31 new cases that were recorded came after some 721 more tests were done.

There are now 1,813 active cases.  Nine persons are currently in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.

Two women are Guyana’s latest COVID-19 fatalities.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health in a press release yesterday which stated that the country’s total deaths increased to 979. The 89 new cases that were reported, came after some 1,080 tests were done.

There are now some 1,750 active cases. Nine persons are in the country’s COVID-19 intensive care unit.

Fully vaccinated man is latest COVID fatality

A fully vaccinated man is Guyana’s latest COVID-19 fatality.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health in a press release which stated that the country’s total deaths increased to 980. The man was identified as a 55-year-old from Region Six who passed on Tuesday.

Further, 79 new cases of the virus were reported, which came after some 1,266 more tests were done. There are some 1,809 active cases.  Twelve persons are currently in the country’s COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.

The Ministry of Health today said that as of November 25, 2021, three more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 983.

The latest fatalities are a fully vaccinated Region 10 man, 77, an unvaccinated Region Six woman, 76, and an unvaccinated Region Three woman, 63.

Man, 99, among two new COVID-19 deaths

The Ministry of Health (MoH) on Friday confirmed the deaths of two more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

With the latest fatalities, an unvaccinated man, 99, of Region Eight, and an unvaccinated man, 55, of Region Six, the country’s death toll from the virus increased to 985 to date. Both men died on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the MoH’s COVID-19 dashboard confirmed 50 new infections from 1,197 tests that were done.
