My avatar says it all. " The more I study the ways of people the more I like my dog"

Although I would submit that the value of dogs when compared to people is highly over-rated. While countless humans have made tremendous contributions that benefit humans, plants, animals as well as the natural world, dogs haven't. Plus dogs turn on human as well as other animals also.

You are wrong. While we cannot do interspecie comparisons without some prejudices, dogs are unique creatures. They have been our companions for the longest time...some 50 thousand years. Without dogs we could not survive the savannahs as we came down from the trees. Without dogs we could not have fed ourselves or defended ourselves from predators. Their long habituation with us as companions has put them in a unique place. They are the only animal that study us to know our needs. No other animal care a damn about us to anticipate our needs. Dogs never turn on anyone. They only act as they are trained to act. A dog is a hundred percent faithful

I don't disagree that dogs have value. I just don't see them as more valuable than humans. I see much more done by humans that benefit other humans as well as animals, plants or the natural world. Dogs may be unique creatures but so are humans. I don't think that dogs study us to know our needs. I think we train them on our needs and they are good learners. And dogs are not 100% faithful because there have been instances where they have turned against their masters. But I do agree with you that we cannot do interspecies comparison as both occupy different spaces in the world.

I would put my dog first before some people I know. My dog is my best buddy.
