I know a couple who did the same with numerous colour trees, they even dressed up their rooms in colours to go with whichever tree in the room. They had four trees at the last gathering.
On visiting my place at the time I had one tree,devoid of leaves,it was bare ,I sprayed it black and hung a small string of lights along with a few dangling dingleberries,(whatever the hell that is). She had a chuckle out of it.
